Does anyone know anything about WaMu? I just recently started rebuilding my credit and fixed a few things on my credit report. I finally recieved a unsecured card from them with a cl of $750. Its only been a few months that Ive been rebuilding. I also have a secured from bofa and orchard both with cl of $300. Bofa says that I should be able to get unsecured in about 9 months. Has anyone got it unsecured any sooner?

I have two cards issued by WaMu (WaMu Platinum MasterCard and MyPoints Visa). I too started off at $750 with the Platinum MasterCard. Its an ok card for rebuilding. After 4 months, if your scores havent dropped and have been paying at least the minimum payment every month, they more than likely will give you an automatic CLI. I was given a $1,500 increase after my fourth month. Plus you can manage your account online and get PFICO score every month at no charge. The card is a good card for the next step in the rebuilding process of our credit score.

I have Credit One and i never had a problem with them. Yes they are the same bank with different titles but they are the same company. All banks have affiliates and different titles to them, take a look a JP Morgan Chase for example, we are talking JP Morgan, Jp Morgan Chase, Chase, JP Morgan LLC.... the list can go on and on. I just received a letter with them with nearly 30 or more affiliates listed.

So far, I have heard that Credit One is slow with cli's and I can add my two cents on to that one. Yes they are slow, but they are only a small business who took a chance to help those with poor credit ratings. Since we have all been focused on how to use credit in a wiser way, accepting cards with "not so good credit ratings" has been pretty strong until we can do better.

The best thing you can do is research, but listen to the members here who experienced the card. That is how we learn from each other. I have seen members post bad suggestions on cards I have and want to have, Amex for example. Amex may be a top notch cc but I have heard so many bad news about them until I am thinking twice about applying.

Hope this helps!

For a sub-prime issuer I have not had any problems with them either. The customer service has been decent to where I can understand them. I received a $150 CLI after my first three months of having the card. I dont think they accept CLI requests though. All in all they will help you start the rebuilding process of your credit.

Hi everyone, I wanted to know if anyone here has heard of a company called Venue. My DH received a catalog in the mail saying he was preapproved and we read further and the catalog card is through World Financial Capital Bank (WFCB).

Browsing through the catalog they offer brandname stuff but the prices are a little inflated.

Depending on your credit the APR ranges are (in order): APR1 22.98, APR2 19.24 and APR3 14.24%

TIA,

I believe that CreditOne Bank either bought out or is servicing the credit card division of First National Bank of Marin.

Correct, they are called First National Bank of Marin.

Get rid of First Premier and the Continental Finance Card. Any of your cards that are peaking $500 and below with CLI running very slim to none within a 12 month period, get rid of them. Continue "small" usage on your other cards.

If I am not mistaken, is #'s 6,7,8, and 9 off by one year? I would trade those numbers in for the last 2 that you are requesting. Barclay's is good for rebuilding but not good for having long. They are just as bad as HSBC when it comes down to cli's. Yes you are still qualified for a student cards as long as you are a student. Chase, Citi, Discover, and Bofa has great student cards. From what I heard Wells Fargo was pretty easy to get, don't take my word for it because I believe I was denied for that card (and the ones I just mentioned above). My scores were not that good and I still had heck of baddies on my report, so this will make a big difference between us.

If you are going to try for the ones you mentioned, bring your utilization back up and wait until it is on your cr before applying. Also watch out for the inq you put on there this year because that will matter also. It is better to wait until they are at least one year old before going back at some more. AS the good rule states here, let your cards age before applying for more credit and make sure it is for a card that you will benefit from or cater to your usage.

Phase 2

So I think I'm ready for phase 2 in the rebuilding process. I just checked my actual FICOs and I'm at 640. I almost maxed out most of my cards last month, and they all reported the high balances. I Paid all of them in full yesterday, so I'm expecting a very large jump next month when they all report zero balances and my utilization drops below 5%. I also got CLIs on many of the cards, which will also help my utilization.

So, assuming (cross my fingers), my score shootes up to the mid-high 600's, I'm hoping I can maybe score some better cards. What I have now:

1. Capital One (opened 11/07), CL: $2000
2. Hooters(opened 3/08), CL: $1500
3. Orchard Bank (opened 11/07), CL: $300 (BOO)
4. Macy's (opened 3/08), CL: $200 (WTF?)
5. Bloomingdales (opened 3/08), CL: $1500
6: Tribute Card (opened 10/08), CL: $600
7: Continental Finance (opened 10/08), CL: $450
8: First Premier Bank (opened 10/08), CL: $400
9: Rewards 660 (opened 10/08), CL: $450

At a minimum, I would like to close cards 7-9, but only after I get some nicer cards. Ideally, I would like Citi and Chase, but I don't think I'm quite there yet.

Besides what I've already got, what would you recommend for someone with a FICO in the 660-675 range? I have 1 charge off and 1 collection reporting, both about 2.5 years old. I want to put a lot of thought into this, because I don't want more than 7 inquiries next month. Here are the ones I was thinking about:

1. WaMu
2. Barclays (any number of them lol)
3. US Bank (My alumni association has a card with them)

Also, I'm a 3rd year law student, full time, as well as work full-time for NYU. Do you think I still qualify for a 'student' card?

I'm really tempted to try CITI when all my balances go down, as I have Bloomingdales and Macy's through them...what do you think?
