I get offers from Capital One and Citi all the time. They will probably shoot me down because I have 5 credit card approvals in almost 10 months. I would wait a little longer before I apply for this card.

Ive got 2 Capital One Visa's...the no hassle cash-back & points. I love both of these cards...Cashback is 1% no limits which I LOVE....I have a $1k limit on my Cashback card and a $500 limit on my points card....I just got the points card about a month ago...Ive earned 1100 points and Im up to $35 cash back over the last 11 months.!!! I opened my cash back visa in june of 07. Its a great rebuilding/rewards card. I only use my Cap 1 cards and my BofA NFL Visa card because of the rewards...I PIF on these 3 cards every month...I think because me and my wife use these cards only...and they are ran up about 80-90% of utilization when they bill every month it doesn't raise my score any...I dont know. :sleepy:

Try calling 1-800-889-9939 and asking about the status of your application.

would they tell you, you have been denied over the phone? cuz i called the approval status line (a different number) and got the standard "we are still reviewing your application" line.

Replied by LuLu1980 on topic but thats the really annoying

but thats the really annoying part- the words "pre-approved" or "pre-qualified" appear NO WHERE on the letter. all it says at the top is "you are now eligible for this card" and then further down after the long sell it says, "request this card now"

I was just denied a few months ago and then i got this offer that was "designed" for me and my poopy credit.

so now i really dont know what to think

Replied by hjm331 on topic It seems like they sent

It seems like they sent a pre-approval after you applied but a lot of people confuse pre-approvals with guaranteed approvals, unfortunately. There is no such thing as guaranteed approval unless you have to pay a certain amount of fees up-front. This is a practice that's common with subprime credit card lenders.

Trying calling 1-800-889-9939 and have them reconsider your application decision.

Good Luck!

Lulu, they are looking at a computer screen and the computer is making the decisions based on the credit info they have on you. Unless you can get someone on the phone who has power to override what that computer is pulling up for the Senior Account Specialist, all you can do is wait.

Can anyone please tell me if I was approved or not???

I applied for this card about a month ago b/c I am an AU on my husbands card and they are really good- customer service-everything, and I was denied.

THEN, about 2-3 weeks ago I got an offer saying, and I quote:

"We've recently reviewed your credit information and have designed an offer we believe is the right one for you...right now. Get this Capital One Mastercard with:
*0% APR on purchases until May 2009
*$0 Fraud Liability if your card is ever lost or stolen
*Platinum Bennifits

Plus, take advantage of an automatic credit line increase- just use your card within 90 days, stay within your credit line and make your first three minimum payments on time."

Soo....what does that mean??? I have called the back door number for like, the past week and it still says "it's still under review" and that I should know something "no later than May 30th".

Even a real live person told me that. So, have I been declined????

Err! :scared:

Replied by ChrisPA on topic I have had my Capital

I have had my Capital one card since Jan. 08. The back door number works really well... I think odds are a 75% chance of getting an increase. Heres how my card went.... I started off with 300 CL. I waited 3 months and called back door number and got it increased to 600 CL. Then last month i called the number again and got increased to 1,100 CL. Just a few days ago i got an automatic increase , which i think was the credit steps increase to a current CL of 1,600 all in the span of 4 months having the card! Not a bad deal. I don't think they do credit pull for this either. I hope this helps others who started out with a low limit get some more credit.

I don’t either. Closing a card and opening another right away looks ridiculous and you should only do it in dire straits, like if you midtakeningly signed up for a terrible card with a profound interest rate.

There's no point in combining two cards because it's going to look bad on your report since you opened up an account and closed it in one month. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
