GEMB is stingy as heck! Don't even waste your time with them.

Congrats RivasGlo! I openned my JCP back in Aug, $1700CL. I had not used it at all but decided to use it in CVS this weekend so that they would not close it. I charged $50.

My sis has had her card for years adn she is now at $4k. I think I read somewhere that JCP had a $3k ceiling-not true.

I pulled my ExP report throught he backdoor and saw that GEMB/Chevron had raised my CL from $2200 to $2700 unsolicited.

Also, a few weeks ago, Macy's gave me a $2100 increase to $4600

and my 2nd macy's, i got an $1100 increase to $2500.

I am in love with Macy's.

Tried Sams but they keep telling me not enough experience with new credit limit. My gosh, they only gave me a $200 increase in June to $500!

I have only had my Target Red Card for a few months and went from $200 to $500 without asking. On the other hand I have had my Orchard Bank cards (3 of them) for years and have been at $300 for years. My other cards like Credit One, Aspire and Capital One give me regular increases too. I don't understand it. Macy's still at $100 for three months and Walmrt said I need 4 months history before they consider a CLI. [/COLOR]

So I called this backdoor number for Cap1 and they told me NO!!!! They said that my type of card is not eligible for me to call and ask for a CLI my account is reviewed on a yearly basis and I will receive a letter describing the process. What is that about??? Anyone else ever hear about this??

BTW, I love all of your posts. Very helpful.

That is the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard from Macy's. That line wasn't even worth the inquiry to your reports. I would really raise you know what with them, and demand to speak to a supervisor, or close it

Sometimes I think that we run across a specialist that has had a bad day and they don't care about what we want. Once they notate the account with their little message they told us, the rest have to follow when you call back in, so there goes my "try again later" solution:worried:

IDK. Oh and sorry for the incorrect spellingof "tightenin", LOL. Anyways, HJM said that sometimes the CreditSteps/Early Request combination works and sometimes it doesn't. But what Im wodering is what kind of card they had that the rep said would not be eligible for a CLI. If it wasnt the creditsteps maybe it was a factor of usage, credit score, etc. But Cap1 has been good to me despite what the rep told me when I tried to find out about my CreditSteps increase.

I never heard of that before but it seems that Cap1 is also tightenin down on extending credit. I was told "no" due tothe fact that I needed to request fr one every 6mo, but it wasnt a guarantee. But they gave it to me anyways a few days later. It could also be the account specialist reveiwing your account. What kind of card do you have??????

From what I have read here, Cap One will issue the card, if you get the Credit Steps Letter, you will received the Auto CLI, if you call in you will get another CLI. Then a CLI every 6 months if you qualify.

I dont think they are tightenin down on extending credit. :dumbfounded: I just received a CLI of $2000!

Its probably the company that seeks GEMB to issue the credit. Some stores have better CL than others and some have a certain criteria for even getting a credit card even though its issued by GEMB. For example, Old Navy approved me for $400 CL, but Gap didnt approve me at all, and both times were pulled from the same bureau with the same report. Then American Eagle Outfitters approved me but for a measly $100 CL. you cant possibly shop with that amount. So it goes to show that not all store cards are made the same regardless if they are issued by the same financer.

RivasGlo, I wouldn't depend on my computer to hold the files for me. You never know when your computer might crash. I used to have an external hard drive for 2 years and thought it was unbreakable. The external hard drive contained valuable info that I never backed up on CD and it crashed last month and I was never able to get my info out of it. I learned a lesson the hard way.

HJM] I dont get paper statements. So when I get them they come in a big envelope. Speaking of them.. I GOT SOME TODAY. One of the RED ones is written out for $1600.00 to me! My blue ones come w/ a non introductory APR of 3.99% that EXP 11/20/08.

Oh and cireone] Since I received the red/blue checks today, I began looking for the ACCT # and on the front page where it showed my mailing address, on the left of it says in black bolded letters, "Re: Your account ending in: XXXX". Check to see if its the same with you! It should be :cheesing:

I just received those checks for my No Hassle Visa. Now it states the account number but on the other set for my other account it did not state the account number wich is quite odd. In fact, this mailing that came is somewat different than the other.

HJM you got a point there. Hopefully nothing ever happens ;) I always make sure to look over my electronic statement very carefully. It looks just like a paper statement and I can d/l them as a PDF onto my computer.

RivasGlo, I always have my statements mailed to me because I want to have everything written for reference. You never know when a creditor will turn their back on you one day.
