Wamu just renewed my visa credit card. The expiration date was May 2009. The new date is February '09 to May 2010. I thought that the card was supposed to be converted to a chase card. Why did I receive another Wamu card?

This posting by kbs was moved from another thread. It is actually the last posting but being that posts are in chronological order, it seems like cireone is responding to it when she actually is not. Can someone respond to this pleeeease! I told kbs that you all will be here to respond asap. Thanks!

Thats odd that you still were given the WaMu being that your expriation date as May 2009 and by that time supposedly, WaMu would have converted to Chase.

I think it has to be after March or them to change over to the Chase card. So if your card is has not expired before that then you will continue to get and use the WaMu cards.

im sure the only reason they are offering the "wamu free checking" is because of all the wamu accounts they aquired. i think if you have "wamu free checking" then it will remain "wamu free checking".

If Chase is offering "WaMu Free Chacking" as a new account, then what happens to the old checking account types??? Surely if they are giving existing Chase customers this offer they will change over. And then the ones who werent offered it will eventually find out and want to convert.

Chase is keeping the "Wamu Free Checking" I received an offer a few days ago FROM CHASE telling me how they acquired Wamu and that if I get the Chase "Wamu Free Checking" I will have free checks, free atms, 1 nsf fee waived and get 100 bucks. Weird cause I already have a Chase checking account.

I received the same offer. I wonder do they do a credit check or chex systems, because I am determined not to get any new inquiries this year, but I wouldn't mind opening a checking account, because the Wamu/Chase branch is more convenient to me than my BOA branch. Does anyone know?

He shouldn't be complaining as long as Chase is paying him every 2 weeks. Most people don't have a job and he should feel blessed to have one.

I know that's right. He had better count his blessings, besides, Chase is more stable.

This is why I don't like applying for gas cards unless somebody is looking for an easy card to get approved for in order to build/rebuild credit.

Thing is hjm331, the BP card isn't easy to qualify for from what I hear. I know at the time I applied, I didn't have near the amount of accounts I have right now and I had small balances, if any, on the ones I did have. They sent me a preapproval so I said why not, I buy BP gas, plus I'll get the chance to earn rewards. You would think by now they would have at least upgraded me to the BP visa, but that's Chase for you.:upset:

So I came from a "soon to be Chase" WaMu branch and inquired about the free checking account. The banker stated that by September they would ave a full conversion to the Chase Bank. He also stated that if you are an existing WaMu customer before the conversion date, you will keep the free checking and thereafter it be on Chase terms. Dont know hwo true it is bu that would be nice to still have the free checking with free checks, 1 OD fee waived a year. But he didnt seem happy to tel me that the whoel branch will be getting a new look, almost as if he is not diggin being a Chase employee.
