Replied by Meya on topic Re: GE Money Bank & Wal Mart credit cards I'm pissed

Ge Money bank has been doing this for quite some time. I remember (this year) when I could not sign into any of my GEMB accounts because they had everyone to answer some questions (just like Ipayne) and then the account was unblocked. I do believe we had a member here mentioning something about GE accounts were stolen so they started this for security reasons. So sorry that you went through this, but like you said, it is for YOUR safety.

My wife and myself applied for a Wal Mart CC. We recieved it last week, went up to the local Wal Mart (40 miles one way). We tried to purchase gas which came back Card Invalid. test.
What if I keep failing the test will I have to call back every 30 days.
I am sick and tired of Wal Mart and this dang Card. It makes me not want to shop there again.
Does anyone know a # to call that I could talk to someone in this country.

You didn't mention ever "Activating" the card. All new/re-issued card(s), need to be officially "activated" by calling a number provided in the materials mailed with it. Until then, no purchases are allowed. If purchases are attempted with an non activated card, the account is flagged "Theft" The questionaire (test) you received when you called, is there to protect your I.D..

Don't get too discouraged and most of all, don't credit Wal-Mart with this, as it is, a GE Money bank account.

My wife and myself applied for a Wal Mart CC. We recieved it last week, went up to the local Wal Mart (40 miles one way). We tried to purchase gas which came back Card Invalid. So we call Customer Service. I am put on hold then the phone is picked up by a fellow from India. So now he says I have to pass a security test, it was about 8-10 questions. This guy which I could not understand kept asking me have I owned certin cars or trucks. After this I am told I did not pass the test and there would be a 30 day block on the card. I then told them I wanted to cancel the card or account. I was then told I could not close it because it is blocked.
I do understand ID Thief, but trying to answer questions about say 35 plus years of vehicles is too much.
I get a letter today, from GE Money Bank saying to call 1-866-489-4841, a totally different # from any others. I said finally I will streighten this out. Wrong it went right back to India, then the guy named Sam says he will take care of it and remove the block. I go back to Wal Mart try again, same thing Invalid Card. So when I call and ask for Sam again he acts as if he never talked to me. I am sorry you must wait 30 days to try another test.
What if I keep failing the test will I have to call back every 30 days.
I am sick and tired of Wal Mart and this dang Card. It makes me not want to shop there again.

Replied by Meya on topic Hi Sally, I was just

Hi Sally, I was just curious to how you were able to dispute your inquiries. I applied for Chase Freedom and when they pulled my Ex and TU, it said First USAA. I called Ex and TU and disputed it. The next day I was playing around online and discovered that First USAA is Chase, so I retyped to EX and TU that I am aware of who they were and they can disregard what I said. Girl the put the inquiry back on there and flaged my account for 90 days as of last month. I have so much stuff wtitten on my report about flagging until I was upset, but here is one thing, they did me a favor. Now that I've learned about freezing my account, I am going to do it myself for 2 years. Oh, that just reminds me, let me go and put a freeze link in the resource forum...lol. I believe/know that if get your accounts down to a zero balance and put about 6 months to a year of history to the cards you currently have, your scores will go up higher than the initial 25 you are expecting. :cheesing:

Thank you so very much. I have learned to play the score game as to apply for the same product such as appliances and or cars everything within the same time period. I've been able to delete my many of my inquires by disputing them. I've learned you dispute everything on your credit record. I've been blessed that I've been able to have alot of the inquires removed. I did however upset a trans-union rep and she put a Flag on my SSN for possibe Identity Theft... gotta love it. I've been approved for a FHA loan & Convential Loans for a home. I would like to get my Credit score up an additional 25 points. Thank you for your the responses..

Replied by Meya on topic Target is forever issuing low

Target is forever issuing low limits. They only gave me $200, I just took it and rolled with it. I have been through so many denials with them that it sounds rediculous. I am not for sure why Walmart denied you, but I would do what Setphny said and call them. If you are applying for too many credit cards, then that is exactly what is going to happen. I have so many inquiries until all I receive is denials. We are so glad that you like the site, take a tour around and give your opinions in the polls & feedback.

Replied by StephNY on topic I wouldnt drop the Target

I wouldnt drop the Target card just yet according to the FG members here, Target "may' increase your limit in as little as 3 months. Dont give up on them yet, unless you absolutely have no use for the card. Also did they give you a reason why you were denied for the Walmart card? I was denied at first but I called them when I found out the reason was because they said I had an invalid phone number on my application, which meant they needed to prove who I was. When I called them they asked a couple of questions about my background and approved me over the phone. I didnt realize you could dispute a denial but if its something trivial like an invalid phone number or similar I would give it a try.

I've taking such great advice from this website. LOVE IT. My score has moved from the mid to low 500's up to the low 600 to 629. (from feb07 to aug07) Now I do have a few questions. I was approved for JcPenny (700) Old Navy (400), Loew's (600) & Target (200) and a few other cards. But I've applied for Wal-Mart & Sam's Club and I'm denied. Loew's , Old Navy, & Wal Mart are part of GE Money, why am I denied? I applied for Wal-Mart & Sam's prior to Loew's. My next question.. Is should I drop the Target card since it's low credit amount? I know I want High Credit Limits while constantly decreasing my debt. But if I close the account will that effect my current score?
