1. House in 2008
2. New Truck in 2008
My goal is to buy my first home hopefully in 2008. We have been saving for 3 years but we took a chunk out of it to pay our debts. We have a 2005 Honda Civic , but we only use it on the weekends, I commute by train to work because NYC traffic is a nightmare, and my fiancee works 10 blocks away from us, so we keep it parked most of the time. We are planning to move to the outskirts of the city where we will both need cars to commute to the train that takes us into the city. We want to get a truck "after" we get the house because I put myself on punishment from applying for anymore credit for 6 months. So I will be laying low in the chill lounge for now. LOL!!!

Way to go dee, I am so happy for you. I wish it was me drving off with my SUV soon. I have never heard of the word powercheck, but it seems like what I have heard before but it was called preapprovals for a vehicle. I believe that I will go through capital one for my finanacing. They sent me a preapproval for $30,000, went I called to fianally complete the application, it went to $35,000 instead. I went to the lot which they selected but I was not to happy with what the dealer was trying to throw at me as far as deals. Then my husband job began to go slow due to wearher changes (he does construction) so I just walked away. I am glad that I did walk away because I was actually purchasing a Toyota Sienna, which I do not like anymore. I want a Tahoe, Denali, or a Sequoia, I love the toyota family because right now I currently have a 97 camry which has never been to the shop for anything but maintenance and a small damage that I caused by going to far over those parking humps which tore the bottom of my car up. It was repaired a week later (thank God) but I thought it was a total. I am not trading my car in because that is my Lexus, Hummer, Rose Royce, and what ever else you want to call it because I had to spend $31,000 for that car due to high interest and $3,000 worth of insurance they slapped in my face because I was trying to be sneaky by letting my insurance lapse for 6 months because I was hospitalized, so I figured oh well I will just have the car put in the garage until I come home to save some money
Capital One told me that they will finance me again when I am ready as long as my credit is the same as it was or better when I am ready again. This time I am comming with an additional $8k-10k because I want to use less money to pay off the SUV faster. I hate car payments, I like to get them out of the way before unforsceene incidence arise and I need it payed off befoe I purchase my house. My husband does not care about what I choose, he just get nervous about how much money I am about to take from him for the purchase, well guess what? I am taking all of his tax returns and 2 months of his checks for Feb and March. 08 He will never know the difference because I manage all the bills and income anyway, all he do is come home and slap his check on the counter, take a shower, and call his boys over for thier "Beer Man" meetings in the garage.
When I purchase the SUV I will keep you all posted

Hi Meya! My fiancee and I are in the process of purchasing another vehicle as we speak. We should have it by today but no later than tomorrow. We will be trading the car we currently have for a car or SUV that is more desirable and is something that we really want. I had a question for you though, have you heard of a powercheck? It is an auto loan program that is offered by e-loans. If you qualify and are approved, which you usually know if you are approved within 15 minutes, you will receive a powercheck that you can write up to the approved amount for the car, truck, or suv of your choice at any licensed dealer in the U.S. It requires no down payment and you will know your interest rates and payments up front. I think it is much better than going to a dealership looking for them to get you financed and with them there is usually some down payment required. Also you have much better buying power because it is like you are writing them one of your personal checks so you are likely to get a better deal. My fiancee applied for the loan on Sept.19 he received and email saying he was approved about 20-25 minutes later, and a call to discuss all the details about an hour later. He also had the option to receive the check by mail in 5-7 days or overnight through UPS. There is a 15.00 fee for overnight delivery but that fee is automatically waived. Needless to say he chose the overnight option and received the powercheck and documents on Sept. 20. We would have had our new vehicle yesterday but the UPS driver could not get into the security gate. Not wanting to take any chances on the same thing happening again on the re- delivery I contacted UPS and arranged to pick it up at the customer center. We picked up the package at 7:30 p.m. last night and it was too late to look for a new vehicle. We will definitely go today and hopefully leave off of the lot with our new vehicle. I will keep FG posted with the results of our auto purchase.

I just wanted to know which member(s) are saving or striving for something that they want to pay-off, purchase, or accomplish? I will go first. I am saving for:
1. New SUV (as of next month)
2. 700 credit score (as of 2004)
3. New Home (start saving as of 2008)
One more thing, would anyone be willing to add thier present savings, status, or balance towards their goal? As of next month I am going to add a score tracker some where on the board, I am not for sure where, I am going to talk to the men of the house at Fg about this idea. If it works, I will let you all know. I think this will be fun and challenging because we will get a chance to brag not only to our friends and family at home, but the whole world at FG. Dont laugh at me when this works because I am a compulsive spender in cash, not credit, and one day you may see my savings for my SUV at $500 and the next day at $300 because I decided to purchase that good smelling purfume or those nice shinny shoes in the window display....lol. If you do see me dropping, crack my face right here on the board and let me have it. I won't complain
