LOL I better not get any of those!!!! Ugh this is what was holding me back from applying in the first place. Everything is just getting weird...but with people still saying that they are getting approved and whatnot i figured why not.

Oh well. I would still like to know how to get in the door with BofA thought. HJM you got any suggestions??? you seem to Mr. BofA on here LOL

Like Meya said, open a checking account with them for now. You can open one for free on their website. It is called the MyAccess checking, and you can even go a step further and get the MyAccess MyExpressions checking and you can get NFL checking. Though not every team is represeted. This is a good way to start and transferring funds from your existing bank is easy. You don't even need to use this as your primary checking, just have it and use it from time to time.

I have heard of this happening to other people lately with BofA. If you don't appear to be in any debt and you already have other cards with low or $0 balances, they will not approve a new account.

Just give it some time, maybe apply in 2010 when the economy improves and hopefully, BofA will not be nationalized or have the government owning 36% (like Citi) of it.

Don't feel bad, there is a first time for everything. Sub-primed banks will deny you as well as tier banks, and when creditors consider you to have excellent credit, Lord knows how they are judging that. I have heard that it is good to have an account with Bofa when applying for one or more of their cards, but it is not necessary. Applying for two cards at one time might have through a red flag on you.

Banks, sup-rimed and all, are tightening up on credit so your best bet is to hold on and stop applying. Next letter you are going to get is, "We are decreasing your limit due to too many new applications/inquiries!" Or, "Thanks for applying....unfortunately, we are not able to offer you credit because........!"

Read the link that smcc started, it is some good info for the cards that you currently have. https://www.financeglobe.com/SocialNet/forum/showthread.php?t=1149&highlight=capital

Ok so I have a question. How the heck do i get in with BofA???? I got brave last week and applied for two BofA/FIA cards. I applied for the Merrill plus card and the NFL Steelers card. And I was declined for BOTH!!!! I was like WTF i have excellent credit!!!!

I got the letters and they both said EXACTLY the same thing. They declined me for having to low of balances on my current cards compared to credit limits....and OF ALL THINGS not enough credit history???? GOOD GOD!!!! I have had credit cards for like 10 years???

Is it because i have no history with BofA??? I mean i have been reading all the things about how the FICO is pretty much FAKO and banks just use their own scoring system anyhow. But again with the WTF???? I have never been declined a card yet!

So...how the heck do i get in with BofA?? I mean im not trying to sound uppity but i think im a little to grown up (credit wise) for a secured card. I shouldnt have to do that should i?

Ok...sorry LOL...im done...it just really irked me!!!! Im not one to call in right after i apply for something...i just wait for it to come in the mail. Like i said i have never been declined! But i ALWAYS get the 7-10 day wait thing. I just figured that was standard practice! Ok now i really am done.

Did i mention im Italian and long winded????

Oh and just a note. I work in the telecom industry and at my job, we sometimes write novels on customer interactions inside the acct notes. The name of our game is CYA!

That is awesome, you used them and kicked em to the curb when you were done with them. On to bigger and better.

Yep, I remember leaving notes in accounts. I left one note once where I said "Mr. know-it-all called...." I got pulled aside the next day and was told to delete that note. Whatever. I think everyone should have to work at least a week in a call center so they can hear how stupid people sound. LOL. Sometimes now when I call, I catch myself acting like one of the stupid people so I stop.

Ugh. HSBC. So they are basically giving out Orchard cards that say Best Buy on them.

That card got shutdown with the rest of HSBC. Its funny. When I told them I wanted to close my acct, they sent me over to retentions. Retentions asked me why I was closing, and I told them that I was not happy with the fees. I had a $58 balance and they credited whatever fees they had assessed me through the year. That left me with a negative balance. Then my annual fee came due. So I called again and got sent to retentions. They refunded $39 dollars to my acct. I requested a check for the negative balance and then called again and demanded it closed!

I can't believe how poorly they notate accts. I also cant believe that I made money off of HSBC.

The bad part about the MC is that you cannot use it with in store finance promotions 90% of the time (ie no interest for 2yrs).

I am surprised they even issued two MasterCards. I don't hide the fact that I can't stand HSBC. Maybe just give it another year and see if they will convert your new MasterCard to a store card. I don't know if that is possible though.
