Effective yesterday(3/30/2011) all Macy's cards revolving credit lines has been removed and any purchases made thereafter would be approved or declined at their discretion.

I called Macy's customer service this morning to check on my available credit (which I do once a week) and notice my available credit was not mentioned,so I called customer service and the csr told me what I wrote in the paragraph above.

Isn't Macy's serviced by Citi? It always has been, not Chase

Maybe i missed this question, lol

Yes, Thomas you did miss something. I asked if Macy's does a hard inquiry (they don't) so I mentioned that Chase did a hard inquiry on me last year for a CLI increase.

The Macy's card is operated by DSNB and Citi provides the funding.

Macy's backed by Citi and Department Stores National Bank (if I am not mistaken).

Chase loves pulling hard inquiries on pretty much everything.

No, they use an internal system and you can only request them 90 days apart.

Awesome. Thanks Charonh. I am going to take my own advice and go in to Macy's in a few weeks to request one. I just wanted to be sure because I was surprised this week when I checked my bureau and Chase did a hard inquiry for a CLI that I requested last year. Made me mad :upset: yet BofA only pulled a soft inquiry for my new checking account. Go figure. And these banks all really love Experian don't they? I have no inquiries on EQ or TU but three on Experian :white-flag:

Is Bestbuy/HSBC MC feeling allright? I don't know if there was a glitch in the system but they gave me a CLI of $200 without me asking for one. Just checked my balance and noticed the increase. I am totally shocked (lol)

Well, I requested one (Macy's) over the phone and got a whopping $300 for a total credit line of $1800.

Good question. I know nothing about the card, other than from the news source

It isn't a Macy's MasterCard, it is just a regular Citi MasterCard. This does not make sense because Macy's has a Visa. If they wanted to "repurpose" them they should have just sent the Macy's Visa.

Nordstrom, Sears and Target have done the same thing to people who had not used the store card in a while, I believe they learned their lesson though and do not do it anymore.

They should ask all of their customers in they want a Mastercard, maybe we'll use their card more. I don't think apparel and showering in Macy's clothes is on top of everybody's list with the recession going on. Everyone is trying to save money, not go to Macy's and spend it.

Oh wow, thanks for that information. I will let my mom know. I know she use to have a Macy's card but I don't know how long she's been inactive on that account.

1st statement had maybe a $300 balance... this girl ran up over $9500 in 25 DAYS in shoes, clothes and fast food

They should have red-flagged this immediatley! When I used to work for Office Depot, I had this done with an amex card, the lady was mad but it was for her protection. Then I had a guy in there with a stolen amex (which was flagged to call in) and he was like "I left my wallet in the car, this is my wifes card" Yeah right, busted!
