Congrats kdb! Would you ever be interested in upgrading to their AMEX? And you are right about the associates getting credit for opening accounts. When I worked for Mervyn's many, many years ago I was a Credit Ambassador every quarter I worked there because I opened a ton of accounts. It was kind of fun. They gave us an award and took us out for lunch.

Yes if they offered I would accept. Then I would probably cancel my current American Express Card. Right now I've got the GEMB Universal American Express card. Which has a high APR now because of our brilliant politicians . Needless to say I always pay in full ! My girl works for Dillards and is very good at getting people to apply. When she gets an app she'll get diiferent little prizes . She also usually gets a gift card as well for each application they take . It doesn't even matter if the application is approved . They still get credit for it ! She's always happy when she gets someone to apply !

I sure will! You would think they would automatically give me one. I know with HC Credit, you can do it online every six months. The Avenue always say they are going to pull your credit report and it will show as a hard hit, they only do a soft pull, I have yet to see it. Knock on wood!.....lolz

Congratulations!! I know its always good when they don't do a hard pull on your credit for CLI's. Those are nice limits ! Who is HC credit ? I haven't heard of them before !

Well GE Money showed me some love again this month. Got $250 CLI on my Dillards Card. Its now a total of $850 CL . I've only used it a few times & PIF since I got it in May 09. It started at $500 initially in store approval. My Girl works at Dillard's so I applied to help her. All associates get credit for getting credit apps. So if you want to make Dillards associate's day when you want to apply go into the store and do it. I'm sure a lot of people know this. But for those who don't now you do. I'm sure it is the same at most retail businesses that offer their own store branded card.

Chase has been really pushing to get me to open a checking also. Every month when they send a credit card statement. They send me a certificate for a $125 dollars in a new checking if I set up direct deposit or five debit cards purchases per statement period. They even call me every couple of months from one of their local branches. I used to have WAMU before They became part of Chase in Sept 08. I am tempted by their offer but I like who I bank with now. Its always good to get free money. They've been good to me but I'll pass for now.

Yeah. It all comes down to what bank is near by and how they treat you. I don't think I have heard anything bad about Chase's branch banking and they are everywhere, I just don't feel the need. I was never a WaMu customer but I liked them. Free checking with no hidden agenda's, even free checks. It just kills me how the amount of banks and therefore customer's choices, have become limited in recent years. Here in Denver we lost WaMu and Wachovia and gained even more Chase and Wells Fargo......

Well, no one can really say no to "free money" but if consumers think smart, they will think if it's really worth it to do business with a bank that didn't appreciate their patronism in the past.

Not to mention, the big banks who offer an incentive to open a checking account with them will have you running through hoops before they give you a dollar out of their own pockets.
