ladynene's review: I was approved with a 300 CL. I have two collections and one chargeoff account and my scores were EQ534/TU535/EX542. But I have had an HSBC card for 12 months with no lates and a positive credit history.

Were you approved for the Best Buy Mastercard or the store card? The $300 limit is the usual limit approval on the Best Buy Mastercard and haven't heard of too many people getting approved for the store card with a $300 CL.

On your new card. My guess is its the MasterCard based upon the limit. Of course you never know with HSBC. Enjoy your new card!

People need to remember that store cards as a general rule issue credit lines of $100 to $1,000. Mastercards and Visa usually will carry larger limits. This isn't something new, back in the '70's store cards usually ran $100 to $600 for store limits so show them good usage and payment patterns. If nothing else, the credit reporting will open doors for other cards in the future.
