kris3538's review: I was approved instantly for the Amex with no credit limit. The only thing about this card is that it must be paid in full by the end of every month. You get points to use towards items, hotels, and travel depending on how much you spend. I recommend this card; my Experian score was 649 when I applied in August; in October it went down to 637. And now in November it is 675. I added this card to help improve my scores, and to have an American Express.

Congratulations on 2008-11-14
This is a timeless classic. I believe the first year is fee-free too.
This is a good card to have, but make sure you have a Visa, MasterCard or Discover just in case AmEx decides to decline a purchase.

Who Needs A Charge Card? on 2008-11-14
Congratulations on your new card.
i suggest try it for a year then consider your other options..
there are a lot of cash back credit cards out there that will give you an equivalent cash for every dollar you purchase... With no annual fee..
and if you just want the AMEX logo.
there are other options as well where there's no Annual Fee.
i'm really not a BIG fan of any card... Which charges an annual fee,
unless you are able to justify the perks/ privileges of having those cards.
example are airline cards, which if you're a frequent flyer, you might actually save some money buy charging in a certain card like Delta Skymiles from AMEX.
congratulations again

To some it is a status symbol and for others it is a good way to keep them out of debt (because it is due and payable in full each month).
I don't believe that he would have applied for the Card if he didn't mind the annual fee.

Congrats on your approval!! Like Colonative said, and its happened to me:
Keep one of the three cards in your wallet. Amex will send in the swat team if you buy a pack of gum at the point of sale

Amex As Status Symbol on 2008-11-15
@ colonative
i agree with you that some would like to get their hands on AMEX for the status symbol... But I don't think that the Green nor the Gold does that.
if you really want the " oooh" "aaah" "wow" factor...
GEt the Centurion AMEX card...( you need to be spending around $250,000 /yr)
to qualify for this... It's easy if you have a small business.
Now that's what I call a total head turner.

You'd be surprised. I got quite a few heads turned when I had my Gold Card. Especially the girls.
Yes, the Centurian is THE status card. You have to have a Platinum Card and spend over $250,000 a year to get it. We can dream eh?

Re: Instant Approval on 2009-10-17
I am the person that was apporved for this card, and I haven't checked on the comments at all since I was approved, so sorry for any late personal feedback.
Anyways I do not have an annual fee, but the whole "paying in full" aspect is still active. I just don't spend more than I can afford per month... Often I will try to use my AMEX in place of my debit card so that I gain points, because my interest rate is 0% anyways until a year after I opened it... AND after that it is considerably low for not having perfect credit...
So I still recommend this card, but it is not great having to pay it off in full every month while many other cards offer no interest for the first year and do not force you to pay off the whole balance each and every month!!!
Haha anyways I have never had any problems with AMEX and don't pay an annual fee or a high interest rate, so I personally have not had any problems with this card, and recommend it if you are able to pay the entire months balance in full! Hey plus I have about 10,000 points to use that could get me free hotel stays, car rentals, general pourchases, etc., so there are perks to this card!
And P. S., my current credit score for Equifax is 660, and my current Experian score is 730. That is higher than when I applied for this AMEX card last August (2008.) I have 15 new hard inquiries from this past April, but my score became higher not too long afterwards..! Good luck!
