Remarks Yes it is... There are many bank not extending credit right now... My score is over 700 with 99% avail. But it doesn't matter... Many banks won't start offering credit until the end of the recession... Even people with extremely good credit don't find many prequalified offers in the mail any more.

Remarks Hey just wanted to let you know that I applied for a BOfA Card I think the plat Visa and got denied instantly through email. A few days later I received an offer in the mail for the 99/500 deal, so you never know maybe you will get offered that.

Remarks It is that bad... Lol. But, this is not the first time that I have heard of secured cards being denied, so don't loose hope yet. Use the score match before you apply for another card.

Hope this helps!

Remarks Had you previously had a bad account with Bank of America, MBNA or Fleet? MNBA and Fleet are legacy banks of BofA so if you screwed up with one of them in the past it is likely they will not extend credit to you now.

How many inquiries do you have? What are your scores? How many recently opened accounts do you have? Have you filed a bankruptcy in the past 9 years?

Secured or not, they still look at all of these things. Also, a few years ago my friend filed and asked my advice, I checked the BofA site (2002) and for the secured card your credit had to be free of bankruptcy.

Remarks I have a secured card from boa and I filed bankruptcy in 2003. So I don't think that's the true reason for being declined.

If You Are Not A BOA Customer.... User Icon on 2008-11-11

Remarks Try going into the bank and apply with a Rep. I am an old Fleet Bank customer and I kinda screwed up with them, so I haven't banked with BOA in years (even though everytime I go in to branch they always tell me that its ok and than can open my accounts back up). But, when I went into the branch I was approved for the secured card.

Remarks I was also denied for BofA secured card and I laughed because I have fair credit. Try Orchard Secured MC. I was approved for this one after BofA denial. Also, Try U. S. Bank Secured... Reputable company... Higher approvals than BofA or Wells Fargo.
