kyla's review: Callout Comment Never sign up for this card. They are just a bunch of parasites. They are charging you for a account maintenance fee, online payment fee. And to anybody of you that have a tribute account, close it. I have an account with them and yes I will closed this account.

Bad Deal User Icon on 2008-10-15

Remarks What I don't understand how most if not all card sites tell or even bring up this card on the sites and tell you its for people with bad credit but what they don't tell you is that the card is bad it self.

its sad cause I am sure for every card sign up they get from the sites they give kick backs to the site owners.

why else would they even recommend this card knowing well what they do to people.

you cant build better credit with this card and others like it.

i am sorry you had to deal with that card and I feel that the sites that offer that card should better inform people that its a gimmick card.

get rid of it fast real fast.

i wish there was some way we could vote for cards on the site and not have others fall into that trap.

we have a credit score then cards should have a score too.

Last Resort User Icon on 2008-10-15

Remarks I hate to say it but the issuer does advise applicants about the fees. Card companies like this exist because of the sheer amount of people with poor credit.

I would agree that this card and others like it are terrible and they should always be a last resort.

Always attempt to apply for an Orchard or Capital One card first. If you are declined for those then go for a secured credit card. You will have to come up with cash for a deposit; however, usually secured cards have smaller annual fees and lower APR's. And after a year to year and a half the secured card becomes unsecured and you get your deposit back.

So, to sum up my post: don't blame the card issurer when you already knew that the fees existed; and remember that you have these cards for a reason-bad credit. Use them for what they are worth and then move on.

Remarks Well said Colonative, use these cards, as most of us have, and then move on to better cards. But, we need to start somewhere I understand. Unfortunately, the only 2 issuers who won't nickel and dime you to death is Cap One and Orchard.

One you get your score up and qualify for better cards, ditch them as long as you get the cards you want, and don't need additional credit for awhile. They will either get you with the fees or when you close the account with the history. That's why I say when you qualify for better cards, do it at the same time and not stretch out applying for more credit. Apply for what you want at one time, and when you get them, then close out the fee cards. But, don't apply for more credit for at least a year, because you have to build back up the score again.

I've rambled on enough...

Remarks Well tell me this

what is a membership fee? Whats in it for you?

what is a bill pay fee? Does it help you pay your bills?

what is an acceptance fee? Does it get you a prime card?

Account Maintenance Fee ? Who knows.

Credit line increase fee? Why when you cant use it.

all I am saying is for a site like any other that's here to help and inform people to better credit but would even have an card offer on the sites by a clown azz card like this and others beats the hell out of me.

it just don't seem right.

Remarks Yes avoid this card like the plague. If you need a card to build your credit try Cap 1, Orchard, Hooters, anything but this one

Sorry To Hear This User Icon on 2008-10-15

Remarks I'm sorry to hear about your experience with this card. I have the Imagine card (same company) and my experience has been nothing short of positive. In fact so positive that even when my score gets in the 600's to 700's I'll keep this card because they really have been good to me. I do get charged a 19 dollar maintenance fee per month, ($228 per year), but to be honest, I knew about this before I accepted the card. Plus I believe that their standards aren't the same across the board for card holders. I do not get charged for online payments, or over the phone payments, the CSR advised that that fee is not associated with my account. Plus I get charged a $15 dollar annual fee, not the $150.00 dollar annual fee I hear others are charged. Overall, I really can't say anything bad about this card. Maybe because I started with a $70.00 credit line is why I wasn't charged so many fees. But I have heard about this company waiving fees for customers who establish some sort of history with this company. Once again, sorry to hear about your experience.

Remarks Put those fees into something more beneficial, like a savings account or a secured card with a reputable bank. In our time of uncertainty, I wouldn't want to put my hard earned money into the hands of those loan sharks no matter what they do or have done for me.
