This card is very useful especially when you desperately need it for gas/oil changes. I was approved at a very low FICO score three years ago which I believe was 520 back then. But there is one thing that I must warn you about, this is not the ordinary card where you could charge $300 and expect to pay a minimum balance of $15.00. No way buddie, don't be surprised if the min payment requested is $100.00. Make sure you pay them on time and use less if possible. After one or two years with them your account changes over to a higher rating and your limit increases are much higher, but the high min balance stays the same. I was approved for $300, one year later, $400 more, 6 months later they gave me another whopping $1500 increase! Nice try Chevron, I still only spend about $100 per month and make sure it is payed back before the statement is due. Oh!... One more thing, you can only make payments every four days, and for some odd reason I do not understand my balance online because it is sort of "off balanced." ie. My balance and available credit never match my credit limit So I suggest that you save your receipts or keep good track of your spending because you will get lost reading their current-daily-balance online.

The Chevron Visa is here! I saw it at the gas station while pumping. Hummmm, I wounder should I. Ok, don't be surprised if I tell you all I applied sometime soon. I just got to have it, I am going to apply sometime next year because my utilization is a little too high right now and I do not want a denial. I'm wondering if they will send them out to good paying customers, what do you guys think? I am going to put this in the network!

I knew once GE Money took over they would try to brand it. GE Money is usually Discover happy but I have noticed that the Gap/Banana Republic/Old Navy stores are offering Visa's as well.
I wouldn't apply for the Visa, just call Chevron and see if they will upgrade your existing account to the new Visa. Not only that, but sometimes its good to have things other then major cards (ie store card, gas card, line of credit attached to checking accts etc).
