rsty99's review: Due to job loss and now going into my new career have been working to better my credit now. Had a Discover card many years ago and as others said was approved for this card with $1500 cl. I have already had a HSBC Platinum for last 2 years with $1100 cl. Never have had any problems with HSBC. New to the site and first post. Take care everyone and thanks for all the info I have read on everyones experiences.

I thought this card was not being offered anymore until you posted. Glad to hear of your approval and I will go back to recommending this card to those who are looking to apply for credit.
I remember when they shut me down for this card, its always good to hear that they gave it to one an FG member... Lol. Keep us posted with your overall use of the card.

This card is still being offered if you have been denied for a actual Discover Card. If you apply onine and get denied, based on your credit profile, the system will automatically give you a pre-approval notice for this card and if yu accept will transfer you to HSBC website for further processing. I have one and ts so much like Orchard Bank in terms of CL and AF, that's due to my score not being in the "good", but "fair" category. I was just happy that I finally got a card with the Discover logo on it.

Reapplied For Discover One on 2008-08-27
I was denied again, but they offered my another direct rewards card. After I received it, I called and had them combined and closed out the new card. Do anyone know what type of scores can get you a discover card?

Congrats on 2008-08-27
Enjoy your new card.
A word of caution, when using this card to purchase gas, they will place a hold of 75.00 until it clears. They say it will release in 5 days, but I still have a hold and it has been over 5. This is the only card that I have that places a hold.

In response to your asking what scores are needed for a Discover card, most scores should be in the 700+ range. Clean reports also, no recent negatives, judgments, etc. I have seen some posts with old c/o's though that were also approved.
I recently got my Discover Card with scores in the 690-705 range. I had one c/o that dropped off in June, and they approved me with no problem with a 4k credit line to start. I think having been on my mom's card as auth user for many years may have helped me also. I would check my reports before applying just to be comfortable with your decision and an inquiry.
Good luck! I'll cross my fingers for you!

Thanks for the info on discover card. I guess I will have to wait another 1 1/2 years before I apply again, hopefully my scores will be over 700 + a lot of baddies will be gone from report by then.
