thomas1's review: Callout Comment Some of you know I've been holding off on applying for this invitation from Citi for months now. Waited for another inquiry to age off... Well, I paid my bill yesterday, and was invited to apply again.

Well, temptation got the best of me. Was asked a few questions, and approved! I've had a Citi card for over 24 years, CL $21k. Have HSBC Cash Rewards, and Cap One No Hassle Rewards also.

New Citi Dividend Amex----CL $12,500

No AF

APR 14.99%

5% cashback on gas, supermarkets, drug stores, and utilities for 6 mos, afterwards 2%

Also, unlimited dividend dollars I can use thru their shopping site. I have wanted an Amex branded card again, just not thru Amex due to their weird tyrades, and CL decreases, etc. I'm so excited to get this card as my scores are around 690-705 range, but I have always had a good relationship with Citi.

I am probably going to try for Discover this week to complete my sweep since I've already taken the inquiry and small hit. That will complete all that I want as far as my mix of accounts.

I'll keep everyone updated as to how it goes with this one.

Remarks Nice limits, congrats on your approval. I might forgive them in the future and apply. I am starting to hear good things about Citi lately.

I Love Citi User Icon on 2008-08-10

Remarks I had a Citi Platinum Select MasterCard from 2000. In 2004 I called them and had the account switched to the Dividend Platinum Select and I LOVE it! I have earned so much money with this card that I rarely use my beloved Discover anymore. I am glad to see Citi is offering the card in an American Express too. I am sure you will really enjoy your new card.

Remarks Once it goes your credit report its hard to remove it..

There is one thing if you paid all the collection or any default account then call the collection agency if you paid it then you wont have a problem.

If you didn't pay and still Owe then you will have to wait until it falls off.

But if you can pay it then it a process to remove and still there is no guarantee

You got to call the collection agency. About the judgment that I don't think you can remove it.

All I could say is good luck and maybe you'll get more info. Here.

Remarks The only thing I'm worried about having a Citi is unexpected CLD's. We have had users discuss that on this website so it's true.

Remarks Even if you pay the collection or judgment, it still remains for 7 years, paid or not.

Unless, you contact the current servicer of the account, and ask them to agree to a "pay for delete" of the negative tradeline, providing you pay it.

Always get a letter from them confirming this first, and them pay it off. Some will and some won't. It depends if they are willing to help you. Otherwise, it will stay.

Also, the older it ages, the less impact it has on the score anyway, but will decline you thru most mainline banks on applications, because the system looks for judgments and chargeoffs when you apply for credit. Banks systems just kick out a decline letter whenever it sees one of those.

Find out who services the chargeoff account now, call them and try to get them to do the above pay for delete. its a 50/50 shot. I had good success with thatin the past, and it worked for me. Good luck!!

APR User Icon on 2008-08-28

Remarks I got the card with a 10k limit (after several horrible experiences with AMEX, I was glad to find a Citi branded one). I called customer service and they lowered my APR to 8.9% Fixed with a year at 1.9%. I don't typically leave a balance, but it seems like they lower the interest rates pretty easily.

Also does anyone know if this card is discontinued? I notice it is gone off of the Citi web site? Will they try to convert us to something different now?

Remarks After reading your last post, I too decided to call them to inquire about the product, and to ask for rate review decrease.

They too, approved rate reduction to 8.99% which I'm happy about, also asked for a cli to 15k. I had to callback in 2 hours for a decision on that. They did approve me to 15k after providing them with financial info via fax it was approved.

Anyone Get An APR Increase Letter? User Icon on 2008-11-25

Remarks I just got a letter today saying that they are raising the rate on this card to 14.99% (prime + 8.99, minimum 14.99). I don't leave a balance, but it just seems crazy to me double interest rates on good customers. The current APR I have on the card is 7.99 (prime + 3.99). I know Citi is not doing too well, but jeez. Double the interest rate? For no reason?

Anyway, I called to cancel and they told me I could pick another card with a lower interest rate and they could switch me to that instead. They gave me an extra 1% cash back while I am deciding.

I need to cash out my dividend dollars before I switch. Any suggestions on other Citi cards? Or should I stick it out with this one?

The APR is not really a big deal, its the principal of the thing. It just seems underhanded. What if I was someone who had a huge balance on my card? Well all those people are now paying twice as much, which is great because the economy is so great and everyone has a ton of money.

Anyone looking for a good card, the BOFA Worldpoints Visa Signature or World Mastercard. 7.9 Fixed.
