thomas1's review: This is my oldest tradeline account. I've had this card since 1984, when it was called the "Choice" card back then... Then converted in the late 80's to Citi Preferred Gold card... Then was converted at my request to the Dividend Select card around 2004. Through thick and thin, this is the one bank that I have stuck with, probably because I worked for them for years. Anyway, logged on to pay my bill in full Thurs. Noticed auto CLI from $18,300 to $21K. Wowee!! Citi rules with me, and am going for Amex with them in next couple months. Citi has always stood by me when I needed them.

Congrats on the CLI! I would hold back from AMEX for right now until the economy gets better because they have been acting crazy. I have sockdrawered my AMEX card because I'm worried about them conducting another F/R on my account again.

The same over here CITIBANK has been in my family for years my mother has a Citibank diamond card with $23,000 and my father has Citibank plantium with a credit line of 25,000 and I have the AA CITIBANK WITH $5500 so we really trust Citibank.
Good luck and from experience Citibank has never let me down so you have a good card and a bank you can trust my mother and father has been with Citibank since 1986 and that the only card they have.
take care,
Alex

THANKS ALL!! on 2008-07-14
Yes, its already 24 years with that card. It was like one of the very first cards I ever got while in school, and thru the years it evolved and grew with me, even thru the hardest of times. I think i'll be close to closing in on the ceiling with the card though. I won't convert it though, losing the account number would change if conversion to a new product, and would def hurt me...
Hjm, I am thinking about holding out on Amex for awhile, I am waiting for this mortgage mess to make some sense before I go for the mortgage first. I want a mortgage first before any new cards... I have plenty of spending lines, and it could def hurt me if I go for anymore and then apply for mortgage. All my tradelines are old established, except for HSBC Rewards, and Cap one... Relatively new. Also, economy is wacked out right now... I listen to too much Suze Orman, and will stay put for now. I'll update any new info on my accounts as I get any.
I appreciate everyone's support and encouragement. It's nice to come here to help and receive the same in return!

If you really want an AMEX, apply for an AMEX card offered by Citi and I don't see why they wouldn't approve you. Just looking at your history should be well enough to approve you for the card even though they will end up pulling a hard inquiry.
Just like you're with Citi, I am with Bank of America. I applied for a BOA AMEX with WorldPoints and they approved me for a $1k CL and received a $500 CLI that I requested during activation.
I like my BOA AMEX a lot better than my regular AMEX right now.

CITI AMEX on 2008-07-15
Thanks Hjm, am gonna do that with Citi, but first going to wait a couple more months for one more inq to drop, leaving me with 2 across the 3 bureaus. I get nervous with too many inq standing on my reports. Thanks man, appreciate the feedback!
