rwalt76's review: Like most of us, I needed a credit card in my wallet to rent a car, order online, basic stuff. I do not have the greatest credit, but I am a responsible spender and pretty good with money. I recv'd this card after getting an email offer stating 9.75% interest FIXED (this means the interest will never go up as long as you have the account.) To make a long story short, I got my car with a $300 credit limit. They automatically hit yu with several upfront fees, so before you even sign the card, you owe them almost $200! That means that small limit of $300 just got smaller. I paid the card off via online account, although they never mention it costs $7.95 to pay the payment to the card. They don't charge you right away, they add this to your balance. So if you were to say charged the card to $299.00 and then go online to make a payment for the minimum, say $25.00, then you end up over limit which will give you a great $35.00 overlimit fee + servoce charges. If you need a card, DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS ONE!!! I called their own customer service # to CLOSE my account, and was hung up on twice, disconnected twice, and then finally after 33 minutes of speaking with a foreign outsourced rep. Who had such a strong indian accent, I wasn't sure he was real, they tried several times to get me to make a payment, and then keep the card. It is in my own opinion, that this company is one of the WORST you could ask for...STAY AWAY!!! FAR FAR FAR AWAY!!!

Good for you, I had this card for 2 years until I gratuated to some better ones that don't overcharge you. Let them go, try Hooters, Best Buy MC or Capital One. They wont overcharge you like this.

I've had this card for almost 10 months how. I wouldn't recommend it because it has the most fees, however, I haven't had any problems with them. My interactions with customer service have been very positive, and they've been reporting positively for the past 10 months, on time and accurate.

Secured cards are better investments. You pay the same amount of money but you get it back within a year or so as long as you maintain a positive payment history with the bank.

I applied for this card before I found this site because I didn't think I could do any better, but thanks to everyone here on FG, I found better cards so I canceled this the day the card came. Their fees are ridiculous.

Good For You on 2008-07-11
I avoid these type of cards like the plague. My FICO's were terrible but good enough to get 2 HSBC cards (they don't charge the fees) and also the hooters card. The fees that this card requires is outrageous. Good for you that you dropped the card

Back To Basics.... on 2008-07-11
You guys are all preaching Capital One and HSBC, but fail to recognize that both of them require a 550 + FICO. There are people out there that simply don't qualify for those cards, and believe it or not, secured cards either.
These cards exist because there is a demand for them - if there wasn't, they'd go out of business.

I had a 610 and was denied by Orchard the first time. I was also denied a CITI secured acount.
Empirical statements bother me.
This is a perfect card for people in certain credit situations. In some situations, secured cards are either not an option, the effective, or out of the question. I never actually needed Continental, but I'm sure some do.
