tynece's review: I am excited to get my new AMEX so I can now show at Costco with a credit card. The only unfortunate thing is it has not come yet. I got approved on Saturday and applied on the 6th of June. Maybe I am just overly excited to get it. I looked online under my BOA profile but it did not show up yet. The reps in customer service could not give me any details except your card will come in the welcome packet. The guy said welcome packet like 4 times HAHHAAAA!!! He really did sound lke he was reading from a screen. Anyway I think BOFA is fabulous and I am so excited I am finally getting an AMEX after being denied by American Express 3 times now. Had to go through Bofa to get an amex. That is so ironic.

Scores on 2008-06-13
Transunion was 689 and Experian was I think 661. I have been with BOA since 2001. They usually check equifax but that report is locked so they used my experian score. Experian changes so oftern thoguh becasue I pay my cards off then use them again so my score flctuates alot.

Congrats with getting a card with an Amex logo! Maybe someday you will get an Amex from Amex themselves!

Congrats on 2008-06-13
Congrats Tynece... This is a NEW card that we pushed out... Great rewards with it as well with Worldpoints... You earn 1.25 pts for every dollar spent instead of 1 for $1... You should have your AMEX card within 7-10 days after you were approved.

Thanks Everyone on 2008-06-13
I am very happy about it. I hope to get the official AMEX soon. Eric wanted to ask does AMEX cap you out on your limits? With this card the limit will be 2500.00 they said. They had to take part of my limit from another card I have with them. And since you work for thim what else do you know about the card that may be good about the rewards. Do they build up with the world points I have?

They did a companion account for this card it sounds like... Yes you can transfer worldpoints from one card to another in 2500 pt increments... Also those points that are transferred have got to be used within 90 days or you lose them. Hope this helps.

Welcome to the BofA family! This is a great card with great rewards. If I can recall, you worked for Citi and now you have a BofA AMEX? HA! That's what's up! I'm pretty sure you will love this card as I love my BofA cards. I've never really had a problem with them.
Good Luck

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!!! on 2008-06-14
Thanks Eric Meya and HJM. That is ironic that I have just as many BOA cards as Citi now. This is my third card with BofA. I just wanted an Amex card so bad but the company American Express just kept denying me. Maybe one day who knows.

Congratulations on your AMEX card. Out of curiosity, does the card you received look like the picture on top of this page? A rep at BoA is telling me that picture is not accurate.

I wish I knew it still has not arrived yet. I have an extended fraud alert on my credit report. I applied on the 6th and they approved it on the 9th. When I call they say it will be in her in 7-10 days. When it gets here I will let you know.

I wish they offered 1.5 points for every dollar spent on this card like the Americard Visa. 1.25 pts for every dollar seems non-sufficient especially for a heavy spender like myself.

Got Approved As Well! Thanks FG on 2008-07-02
Got tempted to apply for this after reading the posts..
and thank you ERIC for the added info..
so here's what happened.
i log on to my accounts with BofA
there's a portion on the bottom that says view special offers..
which is usually about car loans, mortages free checking etc.
i saw the AMEX accelerated rewards... Card looks nice.
so I decided to apply... It was easy since I'm already logged on.
unrotunately, I didn't get an instant decision.
they said they need 7-10 days to further review it
( translation DENIED!!)
3 days ago I got an call from bank card services requiring more info.
after giving those info he said my new card has a CL of 5000.
wow!! I was surprised...
now I'm stilll waiting for the card.
my other BofA accounts:
Platinum Plus VISA ( Student) CL is 700
BofA Worldpoints Plus VISA ( authorized user) CL 2500
i also have Delta Skymiles AMEX with a CL of 1000
for the past few months... I always get denied when I try any AMEX cards.
now, I just hope they don't shrink the CL as what we are seeing here.

The card that you got approved for is fully controlled by Bank of America, not AMEX. I have not seen any CLD's from BOA for no apparent reason. They are one of the few lenders who are not giving CLD's right now even with the way the economy is.
Congrats on the card, hope you enjoy it.

Also, I see that you have a student platinum plus Visa. I had that card also and I had it upgraded last month. I had student p/p Visa for a year with one late payment (not 30 day late) because I was out of town and I missed the due date. I paid the late fee so BOA forgot about the late payment. I too had the $750 limit but now I have a $2k limit since I requested it and they approved me for it.
If you have a year of good payment history on that card, upgrade it to the worldpoints Visa and ask for a CLI over the phone, not over the internet. They never approve me for a request over the internet. I received my $1,250 CLI over the phone. Also, if you have the student Visa upgraded, you will still keep the same history on your credit report which is a great thing to have.
So get the student Visa upgraded and have your name removed from the card that you are currently an AU when your new card comes.
Let me know if you have any further questions, good luck.

ANOTHER APPROVAL!!! on 2008-07-06
I called to check the status of this first AMEX card on 06/20 becasue I still did not get the card. The man on the phone tells me oh the minimum limit is 5000.00 for this card. They only took 2500.00 from my other limit so he increased one of my limits and made the line 5000.00. Then he says by the way I have a way to get you a card with 0 until October 09. I said but they just gave me this one. He said its ok I can still do another. So I said ok what the heck. I got the card and the limit is 14000.00. SO now I have 2 AMEX cards with BOA. One has the red white and blue and the other is all black.

Newly Minted Bof A AMEX Reject. on 2008-07-24
I applied for this card today (7/24/08) with a EQ score of 719, and a 12 year credit history. I thought I stood a pretty good chance of obtaining approval. I may have been overzealous in my endeavor since I have had several inquires and new credit over the past year (4 new accounts - Citi cash rewards Mastercard Cl 2800, Home Depot CL 5000, Best Buy CL 2500, and ExxonMObil 750). As many of you know, it is hard to rebuild your credit history once you drove it into the ground and I have worked very hard over the years to pull myself out of the credit dungeon, and wanted to reward myself with the top tier AMEX. I guess in retrospect and looking at it as I write this I should have waited another year or so to apply and really limited any more credit inquires. I guess what I am looking for is a shoulder to cry on. I feel like I shot myself in the foot now for no good reason with a hard inquiry on my report. Does anyone know if you are declined for one card, can you ask them to use the information from your application and fit it to a card you are eligible for with that bank? I just don't want to waste the inquiry and have nothing to show for it. Thanks.

The minimum limit for this card is 5000.00 Perhaps you can get some of your current lenders to increase you so they see how you handle a higher limits first.
