I remember when Discover first came on the scene. Most credit cards only offered point or miles reward programs, and Discover was the first to offer cash back. It wasn't accepted very many places, but that has changed in the decade since I first got it.
My experience with their customer service is that it's better than most, but not as good as some (Amex). They are also pretty standard in terms of credit lines.
