blueortiz3's review: Just because we may not have perfect credit doesn't mean we have to settle for anything short of great customer service.
initial credit line of 300.00 with 59 annual fee
i was fine up until I called customer service after waiting about two hours to make a payment online but could not because it was down. Anyhow I found that I was going to be charged 15.00 to make a payment over the phone. I nicely let him (Rolland) know of the issue online and he again said I was to be charged. He told me try it later. I was upset that a small fee could not be waived, I mean their online payment feature was not working. He said I had plenty of time to pay my bill. I did not like that answer at all!! I know I had time but I just got paid and I wanted to take care of all my payments and put my mind at ease. I asked for a supervisor (Lacey operator number HPM) and she told me the same thing, to pay it later. I explained that I only wanted a one time only waive because as she could see I pay my bill online all the time and on time, early sometimes too. No she said and I asked for a manager who later called me.
She (Stacey) reiterated what the previous two people had said and she also said NO!!! Now I was upset and threatened to cancel ( I wouldn't have... It was a tactic) and then she finally gave in. Oh and of course it was a one time only!!!
Oh one more thing I'd like to add is that on most of these credit cards the initial credit line can increase if you call to cancel. They will transfer you to CRG who will give you about 200.00 more. ( you can change your mind if they say they cant- make up something)

Hi Blueortiz3 on 2008-05-15
I know your concern about this issue because the same thing happend to me back in April when all of GEMB sites were down. But they were telling you the truth about waiting until the site is back up if you have enought time. Chevron was the only one who reversed (or waived) the telephone charges. He did tell me that he will do it this time, but remember, if I have time, they will charge me because the phone rules (charges) still applies when making payments over the phone. The only time they will be cool with waiving the fee is if your payment was like a few days due.
Don't let this discourage your overall use with the card because you are going to run across this again. Remember that we are trying to rebuild and we have to follow the guidelines until we are in full recovery. I do agree with "We do not have to accept the bottom of the barrell of things", which is something I will not tolerate. But this is one of the steps to rebuilding credit, PUNISHMENT from SUBPRIME!

I don't know why people go for orchard, first premiere, etc... And pay exorbitant fees just to have a $300 line of credit that lowers your score which if lucky they end up paying 85% of credit ine.
If you have bad credit go to any bofa branch and deposit any where from $300 to $10000 and they will give a matching credit line for your colaateral, if you pay well and keep acct in good standing in the first 9 months bofa will refund you the collateral and convert the acct to a non secured, and even increase your limit arond %150 and that's happenned to me long time ago.
stay away from the crook cards and use bofa and cap one!

Boa/secured on 2008-05-16
That is a good idea, but not for everyone. Beleive it or not, you can get DENIED from a BoA secured accounts and capital one. Many secured lenders (BoA, Citi, etc) will deny a secured account, even if your credit score is 600, if you have any past judgments or outstanding charge-offs.
I was denied a BoA and Citi secured card, however I got a Capital One, Hooters, and Macy's... So go figure.
It depends on exactly how much you need to rebuild. If someone has... Say a 450 score they really have no other choice.
