kellbell's review: Callout Comment Just wondering why most of you all give this card two thumbs up? Not that I'm against Hooters (and I am a woman too), but is it the boob part of the restaurant that you are fixated, or is this a really great card? Should I apply? I need a card with a high limit.

Although, I see they pull Transunion which is by far (and I don't know why) my lowest score.

Oh yes, and how do I dispute antiquated information? Write a letter? Make a call?

Remarks The reason I give this card a thumbs up is because... They approved me!! I'm not thinking about the restaurant or the women or the name "Hooters" I think it just Merrick Bank. I guess they are one of the few Banks that understand in giving second chances. I can't say that the"Hooters" card won't give you attention, it will. I mailed my first payment at work and my co-worker yelled out "YO, you got a Hooter's Card!!! LOL!!!

Remarks Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this bank is just as good, if not better than Capital One. They seem to be giving out much higher credit limits then Capital One. Also, there aren't the hardcore fees like a lot of the other subprime banks.

For example, 6 months ago my TU score was 610, I applied to Capital 1 and got a $300CL. My TU is under 600 right now due to the 5+ cards I opened recently and 10+ inquiries. Hooters gave me (after a little prodding) $600. It is also one the only 'Rewards' cards out there that will extend credit to someone with a troubled credit past. People with scores in the upper 500s and lower 600s have been known to get credit limits that are around 1500.

... And I also like boobies

lol...

Remarks I screwed up my credit during college, and now that I'm 26 I'm looking to fix it in any way that I can.

You can either dispute credit reports online via their dispute system, or send them a form letter. There are tons of forms letters available on the internet. I believe they have 30 days to answer you with a decision.

Get The Card User Icon on 2008-04-26

Remarks I say get the card, I too am a woman and no I haven't been to Hooters. I got the card simply because I heard they give high limits. They gave me $8000, approved the April 3rd 2008. My FICO has taken a "beating" and dropped tremendously because I have been card shopping to get balance transfers and low APR cards, which the Hooters Card offered me. My FiCO at the time was a 717 with Equifax,734 with TU. I pulled it recently and its dropped to mid 650's due to all the inquiries (13) & new accts in the last 7 months. Any disputes with creditors, you have to fill out the online forms, to me this is the most effective and quickest. Sending letters sometimes gets lost in translation and disregarded at times ( or that's been my experience). Rockin35!

No Problem.. User Icon on 2008-04-27

Remarks No problem ARod, I try to leave helpful information for viewers and or visitors to this site. I have failed in a lot of ways in my younger years when establishing credit and playing this game we call "Fico Score Raiser", since we are only as good as our credit scores these days. I'll continue to post to this site as often as possible for any cards that I have or applied for. Rockin35!

This Is WHY... User Icon on 2008-04-27

Remarks Hooters is the best "gateway" card. They have a tendency to give cardholders a higher limit than bad credit customers usually get from issuers. Then once better tiered cards see your higher limit with them they start giving you higher limits too!!! Before "Hooters came into my life" my highest limit was a 800 Orchard (which I closed yaaaay!!). Hooters gave me 1250 with no annual fee and then the floodgates just blew open. I got 4500 from cap 1 some 1 k's from AMEX and 13000 from my credit union. Hooters gave my fiance 6500 dollars when there was a time he couldn't even get an Orchard.!! Then the floodgates opened for him too. The rates aren't great and I've got my own boobies but I still highly recommend the card!!!

Remarks Great Card that starts you with a great limit... APR for me wasn't the greatest at 24% but they started me at $1k... Meya started the Hooter craze here at FG... I remember her telling me to apply for the card bc they gave a good initial CL... To me anything over $1k is good to start... Thanks meya.

Remarks How much is your CL now? How long have you had the card for?

Remarks I would like to hear from people who have had this card for over 6 months to see how they did with CLIs.
