kellbell's review: Callout Comment Now that my credit score isn't as disgraceful, I applied for the regular Best Buy store card online. I wound up having to call customer service and they declined me for the regular store card, but approved me for a Best Buy Mastercard... Three hundred bones is my limit.

Will I close it? Probably not. Still feels so good to be approved again.

Remarks I have the same card, it's a very good to rebuild your credit with.

If you keep on making your payments on time and don't go over the limit, they will raise your CL to $1,000.

Good luck with this card.

Store Card Is Better User Icon on 2008-04-26

Remarks If you shop at bestbuy a lot... Like I do..

then that is a good card to have.

unfortunately, the CLI in the MasterCard is so slow..

i have the regular store card... Where the CLI is more generous and can make you buy high ticket items meaning > 1,000

so after 3-6 months try your luck with the regular store card

Remarks I also applied today for the store card on line, I received a message saying I was denied the store card however I was offered the MasterCard.

I am not sure the limit yet. I am not expecting much. I've been on a slow uphill climb. About six months ago I pulled my credit reports and found it was not as bad as I thought (570-610). I opened a secured credit card account six months ago with wells fargo($300) and another secured credit card with orchard bank($250). My credit reports are now in the 600-630 range and this is the first REAL credit card I have had in while.

Remarks You did the right thing by applying for secured cards. That's what I tell everyone to do when they're in the process of rebuilding their credit. I hate to see people apply for cards like First Premier Bank and cards like that where they make you pay $200 upfront and $7 a month to do the same job that secured cards to do for free. Yes, you do have deposit $200 or $300 into your secured card but banks give you your money back based on the agreement as long as you make your payments on time and don't go over your limit. So feel good that you did the right thing and you will have great credit cards and loans coming your way man! Good luck!

Any Advise??? User Icon on 2008-05-01

Remarks I want to build my credit up over the next year or two in hopes of using it for a house purchase. I have almost no debt. I have minimal bad credit (hospital bills4yrs.), all of which are collections. I have minimal good credit (6-8 months).

I see people on here with lots and lots of cards. I guess my question is... Would it help my credit a year from now if I were to open more accounts? If so, Should I do it now? What type of accounts? I currently have 2-4 inquiries depending on the report. How many is acceptable? I am a handyman and I would love to have the lowes card.

I just want to say to all you people out there... YOU GUYS ROCK!!! I never would have figured out how to make my credit report more respectable if not for the help of you people. Thank You.

Remarks How many credit cards do you currently have? The more cards you apply for and the more new accounts you open. The more it will hurt your credit.

I believe that having up to 10 inquiries on each report shouldn't make a huge difference on your score but 20 or 30 inquiries will hurt your score pretty bad.

I'd say apply for the Lowe's card since you could really use it because it's a fairly easy card to get approved for. I applied for it and got approved for it last week with a $500 CL. If you end up applying for it, go apply for it in the store because you'll most likely end up getting a higher CL rather than online because the lender purposely gives low CL's online due to security purposes. Good luck and let us know what happens!

I Have 3 Cards Now User Icon on 2008-05-01

Remarks I have three cards now. I got the first wells fargo (secured$300) about 6-8 months ago. I got the second orchard bank (secured$250) about 2-3 months ago. The third I haven't received yet,Best buy MasterCard. I just applied a couple of days ago, not sure of the limit yet.

Remarks It seems that you have a good amount of payment history. I'm assuming you don't have any lates on your report. Try applying for this Capital One card because their CS is pretty cool and they are very good with CLI's. Here's the card you should apply for since you don't have a long payment history since you started your credit rebuilding process.

I have two Capital One cards and I love them. I'd apply for the Lowe's card too, it's worth a try. Here's the link to that card:
