I was denied by this card about 6 months ago when I first started rebuilding my credit. I applied again about a month or so ago and was denied again... Hmph... Anyway, for some reason I am very obsessed with this card, so I wrote them a letter saying that I know I had a crappy credit past, but I would appreciate it if they could look at my recent payment history for the past 6 months and reconsider the application. I just got a warning e-mail to say they pulled another hard inquiry on my account... Not too happy about that (I was trying to wait another 6 months to a year before I made any new inquiries). They pulled Transunion which was 595 at the time. Anyone want to take bets as to what my chances are? Lol

I applied for this card twice within a 2 month period and I was denied both times and the first time I got a letter saying why I was denied so I waited and then I thought I would apply again and the second time it said denied but no letter saying why that time and then a couple of weeks later I did get a letter from hooters and to my surprise there was a card with a 1000.00 credit limit but a af of 72.00 don't know what changed their mind but my score was the same as yours so don't give up! oops sorry so long.

Well they took another credit check... I wont say if there is a chance now they will take a second look it will only depend on a fast decision well all I could say is Good luck..

Isn't it illegal for a company to pull a hard inquiry before asking you first? Hmmm I don't know about that one.

Give Them Time To Respond on 2008-04-19
Hey Wildrage2,
Lets give them some time to respond to your 3rd request if you've applied a 3rd time. It appears Merrick Bank are in good spirits and I am reading where a lot of applicants are getting this card. Your scores with your payment history I would suspect will land you an approval. If they don't, you should try the Target Visa card of CapitalOne for sure. Have a good day!! Rockin35!

You're actually applying for credit with your letter... So they are reconsidering your request, so they have to look at your credit report. I had good payment history for about a year before I apply my score TU was a bit lower about 590 when I got approved. Now my TU is the hightest at 610 w/a bankcrupty... I would wait the 7 to 10 days for a mail response... Or just give them a call in about 3 days... GOOD LUCK!!

You Can Ask Them To Reconsider???? on 2008-04-19
Is it just hooters that works this way? Or do other cards do the same? I have gotten denials from card companies and wondered if I should have asked them to reconsider also? If so who has had luck asking other card companies to reconsider?

After looking at my denial for Target 7 months ago... It did said I could call them to reconsider... But i'll wait til all my scores go over 600...

Man I just ripped mine up!!! all it said was too many inquiries... No other reason... That is good I guess usually the give me 3 reasons and make me feel like one big loser!!!
I don't know if they take into consideration that sometimes the reason you have a lot of inquiries is because you are trying to re establish yourself and build a lot of trust with other companies... Oh well I guess there are too many people that have ruined it for us who just want to prove ourselves..
