goldenladi's review: Callout Comment I received the card in Jan 08 with the $200 cl- opened my e statement today and was surprised to find that the cl had been increased to $500.

I guess I can charge a few extra bottles of sunscreen for my trip to Jamaica next week. Lol

Remarks Congrats!!!

but hang on there. This is a hot topic on the boards now. Its like science trying to figure out why them give cli's to some and not to others, when they occur upgrades and so forth. So with that said did you buy and pif or did you rotate and pay over time? Also your scores did they go up after you had the card? Sorry for all the questions we're just trying to compare notes :)

Remarks Did you apply for this card at the store or online? Did you get a pre-approval?

Remarks I've used the card for small purchases $30 to $50 at least twice monthly- never paying in full, but making more than the minimum payment bi-weekly. At opening the account, my scores were ranging in the mid 600s across the board. I subscribe to Identity Guard- a free credit monitoring service compliments of my employer. I get all 3 credit reports, activity alerts and the scores update every 90 days. I won't know until May if my scores changed.

Remarks I applied on line and received the approval in Jan 08 on a whim. I had received the in store "pre approved" notifications with register receipts after paying with a debit or credit card in the past, but after applying in the store once with that notice, I was declined. I can't remember the reason- that was over a year ago. I decided to take a chance and try again and was approved finally.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason with the approval process.

Remarks Take it and run with it because target is very wishy-washy when it comes down to cli's. I am glad to here that someone is getting cli's from them, but it just wasn't me.

Remarks Did you PIF? Because I did the same as Golden, where I would charge it, but very rarely PIF. They ended up upgrading us to Visa and gave us a $1000 cl.

It may be that Target wants to see you carry a balance.

Remarks When I got my Target card... I never paid in full but I would pay big chunks bc I shop there alot. Ive had it since 04/2007 and its now 1 year later... After reading most reviews on this card... Im assuming at the two yr mark they will bump me to the Visa w. A CL of $1000? IDK we shall see!

Remarks I paid in full and I made monthly payments. I never took it near the max, and the only thing that was really purchased on it was psp games. If I would of known that this is how I was going to be treated by them, I would have never ripped and raged over this card because I don't really shop at Target. I just wanted to prove to myself that my credit is much better than what it used to be... Lol.
