nden's review: I had a chase platn. Visa card since 1990. When they asked me to go paperless I said yes. What they didn't tell me was that my statement would be going to my BULK email account. I have my BULK email account set to "void empty" so I don't get any junk mail. Well, due to this I did not pay my bill of a couple hundred bucks, for 3 months. For that they raised my APR to 29.99%. Oh my God, I wanted to die. It was at 10.99%. When I called them, the very nice man in India told me the best he could do was 24.99%. So, I closed it. Now this is going to hurt my TRW. Chase Visa has distroyed what I have worked for so long to keep clean. They wanted me to go paperless and now because of this I now have bad credit and no Visa card. Lucky for me I have had an American Express Gold since 1988. I hope this bank goes under!

Chase has always been a great card for me. Sorry but
you have had to known that your payments are due.
With the credit crunch as is, all banks are raising fees
for things like that. Going paperless means just that.
You might have tried checking your account on line
from time to time. I don't want to sound to tuff, but
you are the one at fault and should accept some blame.

Add To Contact List on 2008-04-01
I have most of my credit card bill paper less but I use yahoo and I added everyone of them to my contact list just in case anything like this happens. I never set mail email account to auto delete because some important email can slip through to the bulk folder. Sorry about your situation but it's a lesson learned.

Put them in your address book and then it will not go to bulk mail. They should provide you with an address to add to your address book. If you don't see it, then call them.

Sorry about the trouble going paperless has caused. I'm not sure I would completely blame Chase in this situation, though. Chase wanted me to go paperless as well, and I opted no. I stay away from it because it's easier for me to keep track when I have the actual bill in my hand.
There are two banks I have a real soft spot for, and that's Citi and Chase. Citi because they are the first prime bank to trust me with a cl over 2k. Chase because they are the first prime bank to have issued me a card many years ago (I didn't appreciate them back then).
But 30% is high enough to choke a horse.

Chase - Is Not For Me on 2008-04-02
Well this is one bank that I will never apply... Chase when I had the checking and credit card was the worst bank I have ever dealt with they would charge fees I have never heard of raise... My APR. my credit card went to a 25 APR for no reason I closed them a year ago the best thing I ever done. And yes
All you need is American Express I have the gold just like you and also The delta sky mile and I don't mind paying the annual fee that's how much I like Amex..
Listen the best thing you did was to close chase.
Good luck..
Alex

Sorry to hear that. But like some other people have said... Chase is not entirely at fault. If so blame your email provider, they are the ones who decide what is JUNK and goes to the BULK Folder.
I personally believe that anything that you sign up with, whether a bank or pizzahut, if their email is not added to your contact list will end up in your BULK folder.

Chase Is Not To Blame on 2008-04-02
Please do not take offense to what I have to say, but Chase is not to blame. While I agree that they should have been more customer friendly by reinstating your interest rate, you knew that you had a balance due on the account. Whether or not you received your electronic bill is irrelevant: You knew you had a balance. I'm sorry that it happened.

The Fault on 2008-04-03
Im sorry to hear about what happened but I must say that this is solely your fault... YOU signed up for paperless statements and YOU didn't contact them for 90 days? I can see missing ONE payment but not 3 in a row.

Well... on 2008-04-03
Well I hate to say it, but it is mainly your fault. If you knew you had a balance you could have checked your due dates and paid on the internet, paid at a Chase bank, or over the phone. I still want the paper bill then I will not forget to pay the bill and I can look at the bill.
