carond's review: Ok, I was supposed to be able to use this card on Sat 3/29. I tried to get gas, it was not approved. I called them and they released it right away, I went right back to the gas station and it worked. However the person I spoke to was very hard to understand and kept putting me on hold and then asked me had I paid the initial payment! I got irritated and asked him why he couldn't see my payment that processed on 3/24 and was right there online!!! I got gas on 3/29 and I want to pay the bill right away but that charge has not shown up online yet. Anyone know how long they take to put the purchase online so you can pay it? Also, when I activated the card I paid the $150 right away but they charged me $156.00, I thought that was the maintenance fee, fine... But when I look online they posted $6.00 again, that would be two monthly fees in March??? I am wary, I am not charging high amounts, I am only going to charge small amounts that I can pay in full during the grace period. As soon as I can get credit with a better card, I will be cutting this one up...

Hi Carnod, I am not sure about how long the process takes to show for purchases, certain banks use their own methods for this situation. Out of curiosity, do you have any other cards besides this one? If you are starting off new, I would say go to Capital One, Orchard, or Barclays Bank (Travelocity or Us Airmiles/Seamiles) because you are already being duped from the start. That is way to much money to activate a card. You could have probably received the 99/500 or did better with a secured local bank card paying that much money. I hope they resolve your issue in a timely matter.

Hello, just note, my experience with Tribute is pretty good.
This card is very slow in posting payments however.
I mail my payment at least 12days in advance.
Tribute annual fee is $150.
I did have to give them $20 to activate this card, which went into my spending limit.
I heard when you purchasing gas... There are certain holds on the charge purchase, for instance if you by $20 worth of gas the gas station can hold $50 until your transaction clears. (certain states).
Some of my purchase takes two days to post... And payments longer. Remember if you pay the annual fee in advance. Thats ok... Hoever... The card doesn't know if you haven't been billed for the $6 until you receive your first statement.
So if you paid $156 before your first statement... Well the $6 is not contsidered your monthly fee.
1st premier and other cards told me that I cannot pay my monthly fee in advance...(it must show on each monthly statement).
Don't get upset... Your like the increases on this card... Trust me!!

Payments / Postings on 2008-04-01
It will typically take 2-5 days for ANY credit card company to completely post a purchase. I have some debit cards that sometimes take up to 2 weeks for purchases to post.
I never use checks, but as a test, I mailed in my payment this past Thursday. Granted I live probably 30 miles from their payment processing center, so they probably got it on Friday or Saturday. The payment was posted to my account by Monday morning with the credit readily available. It was a $100 payment... It doesn't get much faster then that.
As I said before, I think this is one of the 'better' subprime cards that charge a lot of fees.

Thanks For The Input! on 2008-04-01
Thanks to everyone, I was just so nervous after reading all the bad reviews. I just went online and they had posted my gas payment today. I have set up bill pay with my BOA account to pay it by Friday. BOA says Tribute accepts electronic payments and if I have a problem with them posting it late and charging me a late fee, the bank will send me proof.

Hello... This is the ONLY card that I can get with my poor credit. I am hoping to build credit with it and then get a better one. I know the fee is outrageous but that is the price I pay for messing up my credit... I heard they reduce the monthly fee..

The SALUTE VISA... By Urban Trust bank... The have crazy fees like Tribute, but they have good increases if you're never late. There's no CLI fee. Remember the annual fee is $150.00 but it reports to all three... Reporting agencies and the increases are good. I was going to do the online banking and have the banks mail out the checks... When are you having your bank mail it out? I hope they do at least 10days before the due date. Let me know how that works... Www. Salutecard.com or www.SaluteVisa.com...

I have heard this to, as a matter of fact yes they do because my sister has this card. If it is all that you can get for RIGHT NOW, then I truly understand. After 6 months, graduate to better cards, I hate to see us tied down to the hard core subprimed cards. I believe that you will get justice in about 6 months or so. Please keep us posted.
