I've had this card a little over a year, and I've only been increased from 300 to 450. I use it reguarly and have graduated to gold card status, and I keep it paid off most of the time and under 20 percent all of the time. Shouldn't that get me a bigger credit limit? If any of you guys have any advise or back door numbers it would be a great help. Thanks.

I will share an experience I had with JcP. I clicked the love button approxiamately 1 month and it was declined. I received my statement in the mail yesterday, along with an additional letter congratulating me on my $300 increase. GO FIGURE!! And, I do carry a balance mth to mth. But, I usually pay double or more of the minimum payment. I would think you would receive lots of love with your payment history!

Same Thing With Me on 2008-03-26
You know the same thing happened to me when I went from 300 to 450. I was declined an increase, but my next statement said congratulations you have a 150 increase???
I also called the automated system to get a cli yesterday and it said something about a 1 day only increase to cover my purchases. I wasn't even in the store when I called and I didn't need it for a specific purchase so I didn't use it. I guess I'll just wait.

Hubby Had Same Experience... on 2008-03-26
He was upgraded to the gold card, but was still at a $500 limit. He had the card for 3 years, and they increased his limit once. Two weeks ago I was messing around on his JCP account, and clicked the luv button. Automatic $1800 increase.
They won't increase mine, though because it's so new and at the time I requested the increase I had not used it.

No Problem on 2008-03-26
Just call them and ask, they will give it to you. I started with $500 in store line of credit, and went to $1500 within 4 or 5 months. Xmas is the best time to ask, they think you are going to do some serious shopping. Yeah right, that is the time of the year we all get broke. Once you have kids, you are prepared to budget.

Thanks guys, Okay, I'm going to give JC penny's until Christmas, that should be plenty of time since this app spree and right on time for Santa.

Well, I wasn't really tracking my scores yet at the time I got my jcpenny's card. I just got my nerve built up to apply for the card in the store because earlier that week I got the register preapproval on the target card, and then on a whim I got a macy's online approval. Up until that point I had just been sticking my head in the sand like an ostrich when it came to credit. By the time I started looking at my scores and decided to be proactive when it came to my credit, it was about 6-8 months later. At that point my scores were around 590. I'm sure they must have been lower when I got my jcp approval.

Got My Cli!!! :D on 2008-03-31
Finally! I've called twice before about the issue and hit the luv button once. Each time I was declined. So on a whim I decided to call a third time. From the beginning I thought it was unfair that they were penalizing me with a $200 cl for not immediately using the card. The story is: when you apply online they automatically grant you a cl of only $200 for security issues. To get it increased I was told I had to go into the store the first 30 days and use it. I've had the card for two months and just used it for the first time this weekend. I called today and told the lady the story. She looks over my account, comes back in less than a minute and says she's increased my credit to $1000. Fourth times a charm in my case!! I'm happy!!
