bramford's review: Callout Comment I have had this card for six months now. My credit limit is $500. My FICO score was around 575-590 at the time I applied for this card. I do not not like the fact that this card is issued by HSBC, and as a matter of fact I do not like HSBC Period. The CS is out-sourced to india, and they typically talk to you as if you were a child. In addition, they talk down to you. Otherwise, I have not had any problems with this card yet. By the way, The American Automobiles seem to be coming to be just as good as the foreign import cars in the past few years.

SAAB A No Go User Icon on 2008-03-24

Remarks I had this card for 2 years, I was able to get a nice little rebate on my Saab lease. All of a sudden the card can no longer be used for SAAB so the card went right to the shredder. I agree HSBC is a horrible cheap second rate back. Everyone on this site loves them cause they will in fact give a credit card to anyone with a pulse or a FICO score of 500. At the end of the day the sad thing is the customers who do pay their bills on time in full every month get shafted because they are not getting interest from you so they wont give decent CL. I loathe them and hope someone buys them.

Remarks The more I hear about HSBC the more I regret accepting the Direct Rewards offer. I hear with them YMMV, but I've heard more complaints than anything. I shall treat the card with caution...

Remarks What does YMMV stand for? And yes I do agree with you all about HSBC, they are not all that.

HSBC IS GOOD TO REPAIR CREDIT User Icon on 2008-03-25

Remarks HSBC is good for credit repair but once your credit gets good Move on.

And yes I hear complaints on HSBC but I have never had a problem with them so yes is good to know what problems you had so as long as you specify.

Again I have three cards from them $1000 household Bank

$800 HSBC

$500 Orchard Bank

and I will keep them to improve my Fico

Good luck to you,

Alex

Remarks YMMV is "Your Miles May Vary". I've read posts where people can't get enough of HSBC and raved about how wonderful they are, and then I've read where they HATE HSBC and hope they burn in a financial balefire.

I just recently realized that hubby's Best Buy store card is HSBC, and so far we haven't had any problems with it. But that's our only HSBC product.

Good Bye HSBC User Icon on 2008-05-20

Remarks As I am writing this review, I am making my last and final payment on this card. Their customer service leaves much to be desired, and in last 9 months I have not been able to get one CLI from them even though I have always made my payments on time. I am just waiting for HSBC to process my last payment to bring my balance to $00.00, and then it is Good Bye Charlie. Good Bye, and Good riddance.

Remarks I would recomend pay it in full and don't use it.

unless there is a annual fee.

It does help you credit score if you don't use it.

I mean its up to you... Just sock drawer it..

I have a orchard bank card and yes I will pay it in full and do exactly what I wrote here.

any way good luck to you..

Remarks Just sockdrawer it for the history. If they receive to waive the annual fee, then cancel it when the time comes around.

I Agree User Icon on 2008-05-20

Remarks I know HSBC can be a pain in the buttocks, but just put it in the sock drawer and move on to your other cards. Travelocity has not offered me a cli and I cant even use the card for what it is worth, so I just purchase junk with it. We just went to the movies with it last week end, and I threw it right back in the wallet with "Cards I don't use." Maybe they will show the love in one year.

Same With Me User Icon on 2008-05-21

Remarks You are right, they will not give credit limit increases. The flexible Earnings Card is not all that. They will deny a credit limit increase with no problem. I am stuck @ $850.00

Drivers Edge User Icon on 2008-08-17

Remarks Get the Citi Drivers Edge card instead. With their rewards you can buy or lease any new or used car so you aren't locked in to just one auto manufacturer.

Remarks They are foreign owned so I am all for people not wanting to use them. Get the Citi Drivers Edge card instead-that card can be used for any manufacturer on any new or even used car you buy.

Re: U.S. Auto User Icon on 2010-07-04

Remarks Having a bad credit history will make it more difficult for you to get another card, but not necessarily prevent you from getting one. This is because many banks, if they feel that an individual with a bad credit history has good intentions to pay bills, will offer bad credit credit cards to re-establish a good credit rating.

Credit cards for bad credit fall under two catogeries Secured and Unsecured credit card for bad credit.
