Hi, a lot of people fall into this trap. Banks have limits as to how many cards anyone can have.
Credit one = 1 card
Barclays = 2 cards
HSBC = 3 cards
Just because you are a good customer you usually will try to go back for more, but these banks do have limits, so use a mix of banks next time.

But here is one thing I find odd. HSBC only lets me have one card. I applied twice with the same message, "you have the max amount of HSBC cards available." hmmmm, why is that?

House hold bank is very funny when it comes to their credit. I don't understand them and I cant wait until my credit is good enough so that I can close my accounts with them. My sister and I both have two cards with them and we both have not received cl increases as of yet. We both had our cards for about 2 years. I have 1 late payment on my credit report. My sister pays all of her bills on time. She called them to find out why and they told her she was not eligible for an increase. About two weeks later she got a notice in the mail offering her a card through her union (which was offered by HSBC) and surprise she got it with a 1000 cl. About a month later she got another notice through the union and she got that card with a 1000cl. But the other cards are still at 300. I don't understand them.

Limits on 2008-01-25
Yes I agree... There are limits... Funny thing is I have 4 accounts with HSBC. Not including the 2 accounts Im a authorized user on with my wife which I know don't count. Alot of banks don't have a limit like GEMB or Bof A, chase etc. Your big banks don't care how many accounts you have.

Hi everyone... I haven't been on here in awhile. I was reading everyone comment's on barclays' bank and HSBC bank and that's so true. HSBC they are soooo funny. Never would let me get another card with them except that Orchard card which I'm closing with them on next month because interest will be going up to 28% on March 1st. So aroung Christmas I applied on hewlett packard website for a computer... Couldnt believed they gave it to me...!!! HSBC bank!!! Wow(anyway I love the card) but I've had the same experience. Also I've been trying to get a card with Juniper bank and was finally approved for an Apple Visa card which they go through Juniper Bank... I couldn't believe it. So I decided to try another card with juniper and they said the same thing HSBC be saying about too many accounts with them. I just don't understand.!! Oh yeah Meya girl email me when you can. I have a lotn to catch up on with you,!!>>>>nessa

Junniper Card Holders on 2008-02-01
They are booth weird. Barclay's & HSBC...
With HSBC some have 1 account or multiples???
Regarding Junny though,
I app'd with them in 06 by invitation. When I saw the 0% interest and no annual fee I didn't think I would get it. I started @ 500.00 and they CLI @1,000. I thought I would take a chance and try for another Barclay account (Twice). Each time they came back and said "Sufficient Credit on the Juniper???" Other folks have gotten this message too. However some lucked out and were able to get 2 or 3 additional cards.
On the flip side, the thing that is scary with Junny is the same way they CLI you they can come back a few months later and CLD you... No warning!

Nessa, you are back! I am going to hit you up the first thing early this morning. It is 1:14am in San Francisco, I just had to peal in since I have not been getting any rest lately... Lol
Yes HSBC is tweaking off of there credit cards, but look, Porgy woke me up to something, HSBC has a bad habit in reporting to the cb's the actual credit card #. They will post different numbers to the cb, and when you get ready to apply for another card from them, it comes back as sufficient cards with HSBC. Hellloooo add my right card #. I just disputed to that eq, exp, and tu has the wrong account # for HSBC. Its hard (in my case) to figure out who was wrong because my numbers did not match my credit card and porgy told me that the first 8 did. So that's when I called (after pulling for free) all three cb's and gave them the account number to my card and asked them to dispute the unidentified #'s on my credit report. Even though it will all be straitened out, I plan on accepting a drop in scores because I am about to cancel orchard. I learned from Eric because he did not drop scores, he actually gained them

Applied - Awaiting Response on 2008-02-23
I applied for three cards today and after reading the reviews and the FN forum, I tried Hooters, Dillards and Barnes & Noble.
Hooters gave me the 7-10 day message.
Dillards said I'd get an email w/ the next 48 hrs.
B&N said I'd get an email in the next few days.
We'll see...

I Give-up!!! on 2008-03-28
I have applied before and received a letter, asking for a copy of Citizenship for verification. Again, I have received the same letter asking for a copy of my passport or Citizenship. Isn't it illegal to ask for this kind of information? Anyway, I do not need this card anyway, it is their loss not mine.

That's just crazy. Never heard of such a thing for a credit card, and my mom's an immigrant. CCC can be so demanding. I did read on another forum a guy said when he applied for the Amex Delta they wanted his lawyer to fax in income verification and all this other crap. Ridiculous!!
