eric's review: Callout Comment I was recently approved for this card with a $2500 limit to start. This card is a Worldpoints Mastercard with the rewards. And they also donate to my wife alma mater I got a intro apr on balance transfers of 0% until Feb 2009... In which I transferred 3 small credit cards onto and closed out. I have consolidated 6 cards into my Cleveland Browns Extra Points Visa and OSU Mastercard and closed them out. Ive went from 17 credit cards down to 10 (one I paid off and closed) I only want to keep my MC that I had since 2001 because of the length Ive had it open it is my oldest card. Now my bureau scores are TU-622 EX-618 and EQ-650 (I don't know why I have the difference in EQ) Customer service was a GEM when activating (and I'm not saying this because I work for B of A).

Congrats Eric! User Icon on 2008-01-21

Remarks Congrats on the new card man. You get approved for a new BofA card everyday while I can't get approved for one to save my life. Lol You still have to help me get approved for the Bank Americard Visa. I want that card so bad due to the amazing rewards.

Remarks You know what your doing.

And I always say consolidate some banks will not raise your credit limit.

Also on credit line when you have a great credit your FICO score is affected by small credit line.

stay with the big credit line get rid of small lines. Only if you have good credit.

AS FOR U HJM331, Keep your nose out of BOFA until you finish your program! I got my eyes on you!

Credit Product Conversion User Icon on 2008-01-21

Remarks Credit product conversion with BoA is easy, no need to apply for new credit card.

HJM331, just convert the Student Platinum Plus Visa to Bank Americard Visa if you want the amazing rewards.

Hey Guys! User Icon on 2008-01-24

Remarks Thanks alot... I am consolidating my accounts down to a few cards with lower rates. Im keeping my 2 B of A accounts (Visa & MC), my Household Bank MC (because its the longest open account I have), my HSBC Discover Card, and my Jet Blue AMEX. I may also keep my Hooters MC because I love that card lol(thanks Meya). I did get rid of Credit One- The reason I did was because I was tired of the maintenence fee per month on the card and the payment online that cost. I had Aspire Visa, got rid of them because of the fee and the APR of 24%. Im consolidating my Visa Clear and my Orchard bank MC to my OSU MC at the 0%. Closing out the Visa Clear because of the monthly fee and 18.9% APR. Im trying to cut my cards in half by consolidating them. My score has jumped 15 points with the consolidations. And its saving me some money ya know. Also HJM do you have a checking account with us at B of A?

Remarks Do you know anything about the GOLD RESERVE credit line? BofA raised my interest rate to 12.9% from 9.9% and my FICO's are now 801, 807, 809

Hey Porgy User Icon on 2008-01-26

Remarks Yea Ive dabbled on the GOLD OPTION line of credit... Have you called customer service to see if you can get that lowered? They are basically going to have a higher APR because there is no collateral behind them.

Checking Account With BofA User Icon on 2008-01-28

Remarks Eric, I do have a checking account with BofA. I had one but just recently closed it when I got the Cowboys MyExpression checking account. The first checking account I had with BofA was 2 years old. My dad has had a checking account with BofA for 23 years no and he hasn't had any problems with them.

Remarks The reason I asked about the checking was because in order to receive a Americard you have to have 2 different relations with us. Checking & credit card or credit card and CD or mortgage. You can ask a customer service rep to see about upgrading your card. Id probably wait until you have the account for a year and then ask for a product upgrade.
