sweetnmean's review: I did apply for this card which I am sure I wont get being my credit score is only 497. But rewards 660 didn't require much of a score so I thought I would give it a shot. Well, when I applied I didn't get denied or approved! They want me to mail in more info as if I was lying about who I was. Has anyone else ever gone through this. If so please help. I didn't see any other cards that were unsecured that I could apply for with a FICO score of 497. And if anyone knows of one that would be nice info too. BTW is it me or is it a sudden addiction when you apply for one and then feel the need to keep applying till someone approves you??

No you are not the only one. It happens to a lot of people here from poor-excellent credit. Sweetnmean, come inside the "Finance Network" and I (as well as others) will help you the best way we can. I am not too often on this side of the site as much as I am in the Network, but we pretty much stick together and help each other there (as well as here) because it is easier to see a posting and we can respond through chatting, messages, and postings.

Something You Should Know on 2008-01-03
Hey Sweetman,
DON'T FRET! They aren't being personal with you or calling you a "liar".
After 9/11 congress passed a little change in federal law called the Patriot Act. Whatever your opinion on this (mine ain't so good), the way this act gets enforced by various agencies has forced creditors to make some policy changes.
Read this - directly from TOTAL's website (right on the bottom of the application form):
"Federal law requires us to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account, in order to help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities. To process the application, we must have your name, street address, date of birth, and other identifying information, and we may ask for identifying documents from you as well. "
Heavy stuff, eh?
I haver applied for and gotten Tribute, TOTAL, Continental and Rewards 660 cards. They all wanted documentation from me showing that I am... Well... That I am really ME. I'm told by friends that regardless of your credit this is more the norm now. Even many SECURED and PREPAID cards are doing this.
As I said, it's not personal. They're doing it to ALL OF US. Welcome to post-9/11 America. Just send 'em some proof that you are not Osama-bin-borrower and all will be well.
