I received this card in 2006 with a $300 limit. Well, I missed 3 payments in 2006. (None in 07)
One day in Feb of 2007 I went to buy a gift and was told my card was denied. I called and found out they decreased my limit to $100 because they sent me a notice that I was late, but because they spelled my street name wrong the letter came back. (So my limit was not decreased because of late payment, but because of address issues.)
Well they re-increased the limit to a measily $200. Ok so I decided not to use the card for a while. Well one day in Summer of 2007 I wanted to use it and the same thing!! My limit was $100 again!! I called and was told the same thing. After going back and forth with rep. I decided to close the account.
Well need less to say I called just last week to see when my new balance would be reported to the CRA's. (i decided to not pay the balance off but just keep it below 20%). First I spoke to a dumb rep who kept trying to tell me "well you were late on a payment in...". After getting a little loud with him he transferred me to the credit dept. The lady there told me exactly what I needed to know... And guess what else... She said, "mam it looks like we have been receiveing your mail back I believe the address we have is incorrect." NO KIDDING!!! Well I told her about the two previous times this happened and that it doesn't matter because the account is closed now!
WELLL WELL WELLL!! I checked my credit report 2 days later. How about she not only reported a new balance of $0, it also shows that I have never been late with them. Which raised my score 83 points!!! Also I checked my Macy's account to make sure I didn't owe any money and I have a credit for $21!! Isn't that something?
I guess they realized they were at fault and corrected everything! I am considering reopening an account with them. But that's something I really have to think over and make sure my ADDRESS is RIGHT!!
