Got a preapproval in th mail today and went online and applied, said cannot approve your application at this time, you will receive a letter in the mail explaning why, ummm I thought preapproved meant you are approved, I mean does anyon know, currently have FICO of 640, what score is needed to get this card? tried calling customer service and was on hold for 45 mins before I hung up, I am done applying for credit cards and anymore offers in the mail going right in the garbage, all it is a another inquiry on your report

I Got A Preapproved Offer Too!!!!

Was the card that you applied for a Wamu Visa or Mastercard? I received an offer in the mail last Saturday and applied by phone the same day. I don't know if I will get the card since I have a some recent inquiries on my report (the last on being from credit one for their Visa card). Anyway, I have to wait and see. Customer service even asked me what color I would like my card to be. That probably doesn't mean anything at all.

Same Experience But The Card Came on 2007-10-20
I also got the "pre-approval" and then could not approve at this time on the web site. A week later the CS agent called to sell me the account protection. When I told them I had never recevied an approval... They told me that the card was on the way. I received it three weeks later with a 2K limit (FICO of 663 at the time and first cc since divorce took all). So I was happy... The online website and payment has been great but the paper bills come late so better to watch and pay online... CS will call often but will take no for an answer gracefully...
