lahops's review: I have a score of 560 and was declined. I have about 7 negative things on my credit (late payments and 2 collections accounts), and 11 accounts in good standing. All of the negative ones have been paid off though and show a balance of $0 now.

L applied for this card also and my score is 600 and was declined also. I have a ge/conns credit card aand walmart but did not get this one. I think you have too have a open retail acctount for at least sjx months or longer. I only applied for jcp because its listed as a poor to limited credit builder. Good luck on rebuilding your credit, its hard but worth it.

I have both the Walmart card and the JCP card. They used to give me credit increases after every 4 months. In 2012 they seem to have gotten stingy...no credit limit increase for me, even though my credit score has gone up considerably. Maybe they're requiring a higher score to be approved now too?

Well, it could be due to a lot reasons. Wait and see what their decision letter says. I don't think GE Capital necessarly limits the amounts of accounts you can have with them. I've had the JCPenny card for over a year now. It took me three tries for me, personally. I know that they do look at (as do most banks) the time since the negative items are on your scores. If they are too recent, even though they are paid off, they may decide not to grant you a card. Typically, with GE Capital, as you can read many reviews posted on here, once you get a card with them, its easier to get others.
