So, as a person who is building their credit for the first time I was at JCP and I thought what the heck, I will give it a go. The associate was very nice, and I said I don't know if I will get approved, as I am just starting out. Well after about 3 mins the lady smiled handed me a paper with a $500 credit limit.
The benefits are great, you earn 25% more reward points, and for the first day, 20% all you purchases. There was a $2 rack so I loaded up, spent $30 and paid it off in the store before I left.
I hear they are great with CLI even though $500 is a pretty good limit for only my second credit card.
My scores are in the low 800's.

According to GEMoneybank.com they still offer the JC Penny Mastercard.

I'm assuming that was a typo on your credit score. Low 800's???
If that's the case I would think you would be going after prime cards not rebuilding cards. JCP is a good card to grow with. Just keep the CL low as well as the balance and pay on time, every time
