sirjake2010's review: Well, this was my first credit ever that I applied for, and much to my surprise, being 19 and all and in college, they approved me for 300. I have read a lot about Macy's slashing limits for no reason, they did do that to my grandmother. She had an account for a long time and on black friday, they slashed her limit and she was an Elite card holder.
I haven't used the card yet, and already they are emailing me coupons about using the card. Also, they are going to start setting fixed credit limits because of complaints, I heard that on the automated menu.
I know to pay this card off every month and treat it well to start building credit. Once I have this built up a bit, I will apply for another. How long should I wait. I don't want too many inquiries on my credit.

Good start. Congrats. I would wait 6 months to a year. Even though it's only a $300 CL, make sure first you can be responsible with it. We all say were going to pay it off every month and then things happen. Time is the best way to learn that.
Good luck!!!

Congrats. I have no limit on mine right now, but I know that is changing.

I ALSO HAVE A MACYS CARD. WHEN I GOT THE CARD 3 MONTHS AGO MY CREDIT LIMIT WAS 800.00. THEY RASIED ME , AFTER THREE MONTHS TO 2,900.00 EVERY TIME I USE THE CARD I PAY ON TIME. MACY;S IS A GOOD CARD AND IF YOU PAY ON TIME THEY WILL RAISE YOUR LIMIT

What!?!?!?! Macys is going to begin to give CL and won't be considered as a charge account?

Macys has a "prefered limit" they will let you go over your limit and wont charge you over for doing so.

Thanks everyone! This website has given me a lot of information on how I want to start building my credit. And believe me, I know to pay that card off and not use it unless you have the money. The interest is crazy and my grandmother showed me how it worked on her card and I did not like at all how that interest racked up.
Also, I've heard this and I'm not sure it's true, but will they offer you a Bloomingdale's card when you do good card use?

Welcome to the world of credit! The door is open. If you could provide your FICO Scores to help others on their quest to consider applying, it would be helpful?

Update: They declined my card today for a security reason. They called in and verified my identity and added my DL and they doubled my limit on the spot and said I could expect another increase next month with how I am using the card. That was nice to hear!
All my scores are in the 780-800 range
