Received Card--Questions User Icon on 2007-09-24

Remarks I received this card 7 days after applying. Question: I've heard that the issuer, Barclays Delaware, has been known to lower credit limits. Has anyone ever heard of this with this creditor (on this card or others)? Thanks. On a positive note. I poured over the terms and did not see a universal default provision (I have some experience with contracts...2nd year law student here). Also, received 0% on BT for 9 billing periods... This wasn't noted in my approval. Transferring my Applied Card Visa. (I never had a problem, but I don't care for the $59 annual fee or the 23.9%. (They also charge $100 fee for a CLI).

RE: DM User Icon on 2007-09-25

Remarks I have the same terms but 19% apr, yes I do have the 0% for 9 months, but I have never heard of them charging us $100 for cli's. I know some company's charge if you manually ask for an increase without them periodically giving it to you. I have head of them decreasing your limit, but check this out, you only hear that from those who have an abudance cli, applied for too many credit cards, defaulted on a creditor, or received too many new accounts. We cant really go by what other people had posted because a lot of them has done something wrong and don't want to tell you the truth. This is what happens to people who have those high limits, for example, lets say that a person has an income of $80k and they later received credit cards totaling $200k, well when those creditors take a peek (soft pull) at your credit report, they are going to pull back with their limit because you are now at risk for defaulting due to having more credit card limit than income. When we sign credit cards we also agree to let them periodically check our credit when ever they want to, to make sure that you have not defaulted another creditor or somewhat of that nature. That is what they mean by they can up your apr and decrease your limit anytime they get ready. DM since we both are new to this card, let's just keep it and see what happens to us. If our experiences goes well, we will update the board, if our experiences goes bad lets flag the board immediatley. We all trust each other at FG and I will definitley believe you when you update the board. Hope this helps!

Remarks Thanks as always. Sorry if I was vague. The $100 CLI fee was with Applied Card Bank, which I BT to this card. I plan to keep my utilization under 30% on this card.

Re: DM User Icon on 2007-09-26

Remarks Hey DM, I had a CLD on this card about 3 weeks after getting it. Started w/ 1750 CL. I used it to pay for household items and utilities (my plan when I applied, to collect the travel points) used 800 of the card within 2 weeks, paid 400 on balance 5 days later, intending to PIF before due date. Within 2 hours after making the 400 payment, had a CLD to 1200. ( keep in mind that 1 week after the Travelocity I also applied and was approved for a US Air MC for 750 through them). No problem until I made the payment. I called CSR and they put me through to credit... He stated that I had too many new inq's and accounts (I did have a lot of both) but I had ALL of them before I applied. Makes me wonder if they approve accounts rashly then go back and make adjustments in retrospect. Whatever!! I don't know!! Word has it they also had an issue first part of Sept with their system. Maybe it started much earlier. Most applicants are not approved for 2 of their cards in one week, however I was in the 3rd week of August. I check my accounts all day right now to see if either is axed.
I am not sure if I will keep them or not. With credit rebuilding they are the best (altouugh small) limits and rewards so far with no AF. But I hate to think that I need to check online before I use a card... To see if the issuer has "had a moment" where they just decide to do a CLD. Many people do not have problems, a few do. I did not have any changes after my last app with them, they had it all in front of them. I have never heard of or had a creditor just doing a CLD, unless you have defaulted in some way (I have not)... But I guess Barclays/Juniper does practice CLD. Read my posts... I was sooo thrilled to get this card, excited that my travel points are already showing on my Travelocity account. Now I will just wait it out.
I sure do wish you good luck... I am sure everthing will go great with the card. Best Wishes. Any more questions just let me know!!

Re: Deborah User Icon on 2007-09-26

Remarks Thanks Deborah. That's very helpful. I've had the following inquiries in 60 days: Barclays, HSBC, Dillards, and Gap. APPROVED. Also, I requested CLIs from Chase and my credit union that resulted in hard pulls. NOT APPROVED. So, that's six. I plan to stop now. I check balances online each morning anyway, so i'll update the board on any credit line decreases. Hope my 6 inquiries don't sink me...

Good Luck DM User Icon on 2007-09-26

Remarks Hey DM, I think you will be fine. Your profile sounds pretty pristine... Wich is what they like in the long run for good CLI's. Barclays/Juniper have had a wild ride the past few weeks according to some web sites. I do like the travel rewards with this card, they already show on my Travelocity account where I book flights, ect... I had ALOT of new accounts and inq's. The thing that gets me is that I had them before I applied... Go Figure! HAPPY TRAVELING!!! Keep us updated on the card!!!

Remarks Oh My God! Now you know that I am taking your word for this and I am pretty sure that DM will also. I have checked my Travelocity account 2 times today because of your posting. If they take me below $500, they can actually have the card back. I keep more money in my bank than what they offered me and will take away. Make sure you check your message I sent to you. You have some answering to do girlfrined.

RE: ALL JUNIPER APPROVALS User Icon on 2007-09-26

Remarks Here is my understanding regarding the Credit Line Decreases, etc. With Juniper: People who applied for more than 1 Juniper/Barclays issued card within a short period of time, what seems to be happening is that they will close/or reduce the credit lines on the cards. Apparently, their software was not picking up on multiple applications from the same applicant. For those with one recently approved Juniper/Barclays card, they may reduce your credit line if what you were approved for was significantly higher than your current trade lines. I was approved for $3000, which is a bit high for me, but they haven't taken action yet.
The people that have really gotten hit are those that were approved for lines of $10,000 and up. Thankfully, my BT has posted, so I'm not going to touch the card again until I can be assured that their software issues are resolved. Let's all keep up on this as more information becomes available.
