mscollege's review: I have applied several times, and I mean several times. Each time, turned down. Well I gave it a try and I didn't get the traditional line of credit but I did get the freshstart $125 credit limit. I purchased a small item for a little over 50 dollars while paying the 30 dollar prepayment before it ships. I plan to take everyone's advice and purchase small to build credit with them.

Pay in full each month, with heavy usage if you can - this may be hard because the products on Fingerhut can sometimes be useless or expensive.
What's your story? New to credit? Post bankruptcy? Post missed several payments? Got any other credit cards? Let us know a little about you and we can suggest your next step.
Right now I'd say show heavy usage and paying in full for the Fingerhut card (for 6+ months) then talk to your main bank about a secure card. It's important you speak with your main bank because they know your income habits (direct deposits, etc.).

Congrats. Determination is the key and you have it. Old saying, third time is the charm... or whatever. Feels good to know you are opening to a new credit world.

Okay sorry for not being clear with my credit situation. I am post bankrupty, but I messed up and got credit cards for which I hit rock bottom and could not pay. So these have ended up on my credit report. I am starting fresh with a responsible mind this time and I plan to make wiser choices with credit. Thanks for the encouragement from all.

I've had this card for a couple of years now, and they are good about credit line increases if you keep your account in good standing. However, (I'm thinking it can only be because I don't use the card "enough") they just DECREASED my credit line from $1,720 to $1,120! Time for me to pay them off and say buh- bye. I was only keeping the account to make my overall available credit % higher. Oh well...

In addition to decreasing my credit limit, Fingerhut has stopped their monthly reporting (as of June) on my account to Equifax. How convenient...since I've paid it off. Still showing a balance of $402
