jaynaz's review: Callout Comment New to the message board.  this is a great site to review cards and get feedback from current card holders!

Just called Bank of America and asked for a credit limit increase on my Bank of America platinum plus Visa with world points.  I received a CLI and also got my card changed to a BOA amex.  my platinum plus card started out as a secured card 2 years ago - it graduated to an unsecured card last year and now an amex.  I have been rebuilding my credit for the past two years and BOA has been very good to me! I recommend anyone who is rebuilding their credit to apply for the BOA secured card and if you do right by the bank they will gladly take care of you!

The CS rep said I should receive the new card with-in 2-3 weeks.  def looking forward to it coming in the mail!

If anyone has any feedback about the BOA accelerated rewards AMEX card - please let me know!

They increased my limit from $500.00 to $2,000.00.

When I started repairing my credit; my scores were: TU: 515 EQ: 516 EX: 505. Today they are TU: 732 EQ: 682 EX: 716.

I have two baddies on my reports from 2006 that I just cant get removed from first premier. BOA said if I continue making strong payments like I have for the past two years, they said to call back every 5 months to request a CLI.

Looking fwd to getting the new card and using it wisely. taking care of credit is no joke!

Remarks Congrats! They didn't give you a hard time at all? Looks like BofA is finally getting back to normal.

Re: BOA - Product Change User Icon on 2011-03-11

Remarks Hm, I hadn't given too much thought to the BofA secured card. I banked with them for about 4 years now, but haven't been using my account now that I use my Capital One Bank account. But, if opening a secured card ( I am also rebuilding) can get my foot in the door with Amex someday, it might just be worth a shot. Thanks for the info!

Remarks

colonative - not a hard time at all! I made very strong payments since I received the card from BOA, but I would click on the credit limit increase and get declined everytime.  So after I received the letter in the mail regarding my annual fee charge, I called CS and spoke with a senior credit analyst and told him I have been a loyal customer for 2 years and never received a CLI - he manually checked my credit and approved me for a $1500.00 increase and told me because of my 2 baddies on my experian report and cannot grant me a larger increase.  but he said if I continue making strong payments, I should call back every 5 months or so and they will do an account review to see if I qualify for more CLI's.  I then asked what is their criteria to do a product change and he said I can get a BOA AMEX if I wanted.  so I said - "let;s do it!"

roughdraft - I highly recommend - if I had to do it all over again, I would just make a higher deposit for a higher credit limit. I think they would have changed my card sooner if I had a higher limit on my card.

Remarks Thanks for the response. I only asked because a few years ago calling BofA could have ended up in a credit line decrease or the closure of the account. They were acting very strange. But it sounds like they are back to normal. Congrats again!

Remarks Haha i had the same thing happen to me. Messed up with first premier about 6 years ago. My scores were the same as yours and I have worked all this time to rebuild and I have to say we have the same scores again. Good work with rebuilding those nice scores! keep it up. :)

Re: BOA - Product Change User Icon on 2011-07-03

Remarks A lot has happened over the past 3 years in the financial industry and adjustments had to be made for all of us. But, I can tell you first hand, Bank of America is one of the best Banks out there. If you work hard and trust the secured card process when rebuilding your credit and use them primarily as a credit card company and make aggressive payments (I would suggest more than 75% if not 100% of what you spend a month). I started with a 500 secured card. My Credit Limit has been upgraded time after time. I now have 15K Limit with a Black Visa Signature Card (looks just like this Amex) with my Photo on it (sorry guys this card has been discontinued). I was suggested to upgrade to this Black Amex, but I decided to keep my Black Visa Signature Card to diversify my credit card portfolio and the interest is lower anyways. I don't regret my decision to bank with BofA. They are THE Bank of Opportunity.

Re: BOA - Product Change User Icon on 2011-08-19

Remarks I am closing on my new house on Monday. In January of this year my credit scores were in the dirt. Low 500's on all 3 CBRs. Now, 7 months later I am in the low 700's on all 3 CBRs. I went into BoA as that is where my checking and savings are to get a print out of all my transactions for the underwriter. A loan officer there was wanting me to go with BoA for my mortgage loan. I advised her I was closing in less than a week, so she set up an appointment for me to come see her on Wednesday to change out my CC as she said it was an older one with no benefits. I too had a secure CC at first then they changed it. The whole meaning of me rambling is I am going to try to get this card too. I will keep my fingers crossed.
