yanira's review: Do you guys know of any other companies that have a discover card? I would like to have one but it seems like the credit requirement is high for most. Any ideas?

Yanira,
HSBC issues the Direct Rewards Platinum Discover Card. Aside from the way they approve purchases and put a hold on the account when buying gas at the pump, it is a pretty good card. The way they process the card when purchasing gas is kind of funky. Checked online several times after purchasing gas at the pump twice in about a week, and everyday, my available credit fluctuated. That was with making no other purchases. Good card. I just won't buy gas with it! Has a rewards program, but nothing to write home about. Try it and let the board know what you think. Good luck!

Try the Direct rewards Discover card. Eric was telling me about this card a couple of months ago. I was too scared to apply due to a denial hitting me in the face.

So there you go Yanira! Theo, thanks for pulling the card and sharing some info on it. I forgot about you having the card... Lol! Where have you been hiding?

Meya,
I just wanted to let you and others know that you can do a pre-approval app on the site before you officially apply... I think it only counts as a soft hit since your not technically applying. Right then and there, they will tell you if you would likely be approved for that card and others.

Thanks for the input Yanira. Well for some reason I never can get to the level of Discover Financial Backers. When I go through HSBC pre-approvals they always come back with the Orchard Card. I have been having Orchard for four YEARS NOW! And check this out, do you know that if you go ahead with the final application (after approval) you will be denied for another orchard card because they did not actually send you out a pre-approved letter? Yep, it happened to me and the rep did not take off the hard inquiry after I had talked to her. But it is good for people here to read what you had put down about the online preapprovals, there are many people that are not aware of that. Now this is how we get down at FG, sharing info, love you for that one Yanira. Oh Ps, since I cannot make double replies to the same card... WAY TO GO ON YOUR DISCOVER APPROVAL, YOU ARE COMING UP THERE! As far as the reporting goes, it can take nearly 4 months for all cards to start posting to your report. Make sure that you apply to cards that report to all 3 CRA's. I make sure all 13 of my creditors are reporting, I keep a list right next to my monitor and scratch them off the list when I see all has reported. If anyone has HC Credit (By Citi) they will see that it takes time for them to report to all three. I have been waiting since June and they finally made it to 2 as of last week. JP Morgan Chase Student Loans is lazy. I had to go off on them to get them to report to all three. They are at 2 now.
