myapple2's review: I was unceremoniously denied a BB card, but offered the $500 credit limit MC instead. I declined the offer. My fiance has a BB card with a $3500 limit and we loveeee it. Wanted to double down for our no interest purchases, but no such luck. ;(
Tu- 675, EQ - 661, EX - 695
Great card if you can get it though..

Same thing happened to me and many other people on this site. I just don't think that HSBC is approving anyone for the Store card these days. They make more in the annual for the MC, so that's probably why they do it. Good job declining the offer because I just closed my Best Buy MC after 2 years because they refused to give me a CLI (only got the 100 CLI last year). They gave me a scripted response saying that they've made a business decision to not do them right now.

From some stories I realize that if your CL is lower than 2000 (most likely 3 digits), you're not going to have CLI in a generous way.
Probably that's why the initial credit lines from Discover or AMEX are from 2000 in many cases (magic number?). If they don't think your credit history deserves that level, you don't even approve your application.
On the other hand, even you're approved by some other banks, it doesn't mean they really think you deserve to have a relatively normal CL. Maybe that's why it's very hard to have some CLI if you start from a very low credit line. Maybe they just don't like you from the beginning.

They are not doing any clis for anyone until like November I talked too one of there managers so any HSBC account cannot get in increase at all right now

To D98LAKEFAN,
Do you have any information of the time other banks start to review ours credit history? (and hopefully we'll have some CLI~~~)

Not sure but the reason HSBC wont do it is they claim there computers arent complaint to the the new new credit card regulations from Feb and they wont be until like November or so. Not sure about other banks but maybe they are the same I just got an increase from barclays and from gemb.
