#2-year credit history
#16 hard inquiries in the past 12 months
#Average credit line of all credit cards = 850
#Highest credit line = 1800
#Foreigner, Student VISA #AMEX, BOA, Chase, HSBC, Citi
I had rejected me before in the past 12 months. Still, I got approved instantly on the Costco front desk.
CL = 2000 #Very happy.

Congrats! So many people are getting these hot AMEX cards! ^_^
I'm going to apply for the Costco AMEX soon...
Do you shop a lot at Costco? I am wondering if they check your spending habits when applying. I think they might.
We are in a similar boat. I'm 19 with, with 19 months history and three cards. My Experian score is 714... About 6-7 inquiries though. Mind saying your income?

What I mentioned above are pretty much all negative. 16 hard inquiries(come on, this is a huge number), had been rejected by all major banks (even the AMEX is included), identified as a foreigner (maybe you don't understand this part but I do...) and a student (graduate student is on the same page with college student in most cases).
Only the score looks fine (but that is only 45% above all though) and 2-year credit history is not so short (for some reason, I noticed that "2" year is a threshold in some cases). By the way, I forgot to say that I keep the individual and over all balance lower than 10% of CL (technically the only positive item).
Actually I don't go shopping very often (I will try to do more after I have this card) and my salary standard is around average in this country.
I don't think we are in a similar boat, yours is obviously better than mine...

You have 16 inquiries on one bureau? Yikes, I can't believe they approved you. Congrats.

Your income is about $45k then? I am wondering because mine is less than average. AMEX especially holds income as a big factor.

Congrats to you on the approval. I would love to carry an Amex, but unfortunately I know that I'm they're not ready for me, because I have toooo many inquiries on every CB. I will just wait it out till the baddies fall off. It's crazy that everyone's getting all these approvals from Amex cause wasn't it just last year where everyone was totally over Amex cause they were slashing and closing CL left and right? It appears as though the Feds finally slapped them around a little and they shaped up.
