meya's review: Hi everyone, I bet you never thought you will see me in here again huh! Well, I snooped around on US Bank site and decided to shoot for this card since I was approved for a $500 line of credit from them some months ago, I thought it would be better to go this route since I am a student and chances were better. Well I did get the 7-10 day message (which depressed me), but when I opened up my email a few days later, I saw the Big Fat Congratulations all on the first sentence. They automatically added the card to my checking account, and I seen that I had a $500 limit. I will accept that with flying colors!
The card recently arrived a few days ago, and I seen that my APR is 17.99, and the $20 annual fee will be waived upon the first purchase within one year. They pulled from Experian, which has about 17 inquires, credit score of 672 but no baddies on neither CB. TU and EQ are 658, and 662. Oh, and let's not forget that I do have high util on some of my cards. As far as rewards go, you get 1000 bonus points the very first time you use your card for your choice of merchandise, gift cards, cash back or travel. So if you earn up to 1,500 points, your get a choice of a $10 Barnes and Noble, Burger king, Starbucks, Panera Bread gift cards. For 3500 you can get a choice of $25 cash back via a statement credit, Applebee's, Amazon or Best buy gift card... Etc
I already used the card to purchase Thanksgiving dinner, but that was on purpose so that I can play around with them for a few months and show them what I can do since I barely use the line of credit. Good Luck for those who choose to apply, I really encourage those who bank with US Bank, and students to give them a try, I do believe that is what helped me out.

You've made it! Only place to go from here is up. I see a Citibank card in your future.

Congrats! My grandson is 19 and he can't get credit anywhere yet. I added him as an authorized user on my walmart and best buy so he could build some credit history. U. S. Bank seems to be generous these days maybe I should have him apply for a Student card there. He just got his first Checking account with boa so hopefully there is luck for him there. Anyway congrats again on your new card. I too see a Citi card and maybe an AMEX in your future!

Congrats Meya! You definitely deserve this card and more. You are seeing the last of your subprime days and we will be here to celebrate with you when you start dealing with the big boys.

Congrats Meya! Is this card like where you have to live in a certain area to be considered? I never even heard of this bank.

Don't have this bank where I live either. Neither can I get the secured card from them. Before I moved here when I lived in oregon still, this bank was everywhere. It is only in certain states. Just the west coast I think

They are pretty much scattered in 24 states. Some are in the east coast, and some are in the St Louis and Detroit areas, here is the link to the branch locater. Type in your zip code and see what results you will come up with. They have partnered banks also, so you may never know. I am not for sure if they base customers demographically, but its worth the try. I really encourage those who bank with them to apply.

US Bank is expanding their service territory. They have been buying FDIC closed banks. Keep your ears to the rail. They have banks that don't have their name on them yet. Soon they will in many new states.

I just went into another branch a couple of days ago, and they were passing out fliers to encourage small business owners to get a loan with them, even with minimal credit and not so perfect credit. So I highly have to agree with you on this one.

Thanks again everyone! Got my first $10 min payment in the mail the other day. I am going to pay them 1/2 the balance this statement, and the remaining 1/2 the next statement. I used the card for the holiday meals, just had to get the feel of swiping my card... Lolz! I didn't (even though I couldn't) want to pay off the balance in full, I want to get some type of proof that I have handled a balance positively from them, so that they can add that to my cr.

I just hope that US Bank does not become one of those "too big to fail" banks such as BoA, Chase, and Citi.
