san1717's review: Callout Comment K, stumbled across this site today. Was looking for one like this months ago. Any-who, I have been cleaning up my credit. So I said "what the hell". Most of the reviews encouraged me. Have my Macy's card for over 4+ yrs. Paid up-to-date. So applied for the REDcard online. Wasn't approved instantly =~( Which I sort of expected, but felt hopeful. I've paid off all past judgments (only 2) over 2 yo. I have no open collections. Emailed received telling me that "We Need More Time to Review..."?? Confession: I'll be type pissed if they dis me... Wish me luck.

Should I still go in-store and apply? Can't handle the face-to-face rejection tho... Lol

Call Them User Icon on 2009-07-01

Remarks Sometimes with online applications they have to weed out any fraud. I would call their credit division and see if they need any more info or if you were declined.

I got this # from the Target website: 1-888-755-5856

If that does not work for you, call your local Target store; they usually have an option to contact credit services.

Try it and see what happens, you get an answer without having to go in person. Let us know what happens.

Good luck

I Hear Approval Is Easier In Store User Icon on 2009-07-01

Remarks I heard the criteria to approve you in store is easier.

I am like you, I don't like the face to face rejection... I applied on line for that reason... I was approved! $300 limit... Got the card in about 10 days... I have a bk 2 years old... A small disputable medical collection but no lates at all but I don't have what they call a credit mix such as a car loan as my car is paid off and I have a mortgage and home equity loan that was not reaffirmed in the bk even though I maintain the home and still pay both loans but they don't report to the bureaus anymore. My point is you have a better than average chance of being approved and a message that says they need more time is not always a denial.

I do know they denied me twice for too many inquiries. That is why I waited until I had almost a year without an inquiry and I got instantly approved.

good luck!

Remarks DH applied April 2008 on line; said they need to review 10 days later card came in the mail was expecting a denial letter. So just because it says pending does not mean its a denial. Keep Us posted on the putcome.:-)

San1717 / Red Target Card - User Icon on 2009-07-04

Remarks First, you may need to take a look at all three credit reports, correct errors (if any), second, spend $30 to pay equifax, experian & transunion to pull your scores before you decide which credit card you need to get - good luck

Pay For Delete? User Icon on 2009-07-05

Remarks Is there any way you can have those paid collections removed? They're paid off, I'd see if I can have them deleted. I had one baddie for quite awhile, I disputed but it was "verified", I thought I'd wait it out, but since it was the only blemish I had, I settled for less than half and it was deleted within a matter of days.

Good luck, I hope they're just verifying information and a card will be on the way soon.

Re: Tia530 / Pay For Delete User Icon on 2009-07-05

Remarks Any collection even paid in full in the past still showing in your credit reports for 7 years - there is NO WAY you can take if off unless it WAS ERRORS by banks or collection agency, etc.

however, pay it off is best way to maintain your scores, and waiting for over at least a year or more - you will see big surprise how much your scores has been improve. Good luck.

I Have To Disagree With Ya User Icon on 2009-07-06

Remarks The collection was indeed deleted, I would not have paid it unless the agency (Purco Fleet) agreed to the terms. They did, in writing. It is gone, poof. I check my reports regularly via a monitoring service, all show no collections. Not sure about anyone elses experience but I wouldn't put that out there if it were not true. If you're speaking about a judgment, could be a different story, the account I paid was not a judgment, just an account that was placed with a collection agency. May make things a bit clearer. Good day to ya.

Thanks Ya'll! User Icon on 2009-07-06

Remarks I appreciate all the input and feedback =~)

"ColoNative", Thanks a mil' for the #. I was searching for it but came up empty! Will call and find out my status and post it.

"LindaLu" & "Qchau", I have just began to apply for a card. My last inquiries were Property Mgrs for an apt rental. Which is when I was forced to pull up my reports and FICO. Sorted out all the false info and paid up all and any debts. Even paid up Macy's in full to have a $0 balance, since April. Macy's has me down as "never late"... Other stuff is posted as "settled" and paid...

"Tia530", One thing I've noticed is that Experian is the only one that states how long the debts will be listed for and/or expected removal date. Wish the other ones did that too!

Weird... The same day Target's Bank checked my stuff is the same day my EQ score went up by 2 points. Coincidence maybe? Sucks that I have finally been on top of cleaning my credit and the economy is down lmao! Go figure?!

Another weird thing... Noticed that when I paid off my Macy's card, my Ex score went up to 722 from 5??. And my FICOs (eq & tu) went up by only 10 points or so.

Tia50 User Icon on 2009-07-06

Remarks You are one of the lucky ones because when you once had a baddie on a cr, regardless to if it is paid or not, it stays on your report until 7 yrs is up. The only time I have heard of them deleting is when you have a written agreement with the ca stating that they will delete upon final payment. That is rare, and again, I have to say, you are very lucky! You go Tia50!

Re: Apply For New Target Visa Card User Icon on 2009-07-07

Remarks Your recently scores called: "FAIR" but not "GOOD CREDIT" at all - last year banks used 680 as good score but not any more (minimum required for all three scores) - this year 2009, they had changed guidelines again and most banks used 720 as GOOD CREDIT - if you have more than 700 (example: experian 710, equifax 705 & transunion 715) - then go ahead and do it - remember, each inquiry will schedule to be removed every 2 years - and any inquiries more than a year WON'T COUNT as recently inquiries - good luck

Haven't Read The Letter Yet User Icon on 2009-07-16

Remarks K since I had just moved and only have a yr lease, I used my previous address when I applied. They mailed me a letter there; most likely "the rejection". I asked them to feel for something hard... Negative. So when I go to my sister's (my old address), I will read it. Then I will feel the pain.

On the flip side, I just got approved for a Premier (something-something) card. I had called them directly in leiu of a mail-in-offer (like a rejected woman looking for another lover) and wasn't given an auto approval =~(. So I thought I pressed my luck! Kicking myself for giving myself 2 inquiries! Yup, I was desperate! Then I recv'd a statement in the mail yesterday (gasp)!!! +

... No card yet though. APR 9.9% and only $250 cl :-(

But I am excited that I'm getting back on board. I'll pay a regular bill with it (Con Ed) and pay it off right away. Hopefully it'll bring the CL up eventually. Will post what my official outcome with the stinkie RedCard is... Thanks ya'll!

Denied! User Icon on 2009-07-28

Remarks K, I opened the letter and was denied. They put it on Equifax. They said that my balances were high (not true) and that my credit length history was too short. Iwas more upset at the reasonings then the actual denial.

I only have a Macy's card, which is at $0 for the past 3-4 months. And I've been with them since 2004. They act like I've had credit for only 1 yr.

I'm probably better off... On the flip side, I did get approved for some robbing-@$$ CC. It's bitter sweet. The finance rates are ridiculous, but it's the only one giving me a chance. So thank you, Premier Bank(I think)...

You try to make your credit better, but it's like the creditors or credit bureaus set you up for failure before you can prove yourself. It's like going to rehab and cleaning up really well, and they are like "sorry, your still considered a crack-head until you're clean for 8-10+ yrs".
